I started with the Louisiana restore program for repairs to my home. Gracefully, I was able to get the grant. I chose a construction company that they provided, and they began work on my house in July of this year. Now it's November and I still have not been able to get back in my house or an explanation to why not. All I was told by the construction company (******) was that my wiring needed to be updated, and they had to tear 1/4 of the wall out for an electrician. Well, they not only took 1/4 of the walls but all the walls including the ceilings in every room including the rooms those that were not damage. That was 2 months ago and now numerous text (which I have saved) the contractor tells me the state program does not want to pay for the rewiring or electrician. Then he tells me I need to call the overseer of construction company, which is *******, as speaking to that company, they are telling me I need to call Louisiana restore and ask why they keep denying the wiring. I have put numerous calls to the Louisiana restore company and each time the operator said that they will get a supervisor to call me back that's been about 2 wks., and no one has contacted me as of today. So, where does that leave me homeless no place to go. I also called ******* company back to see if I could recommend a cheater electrician, she said if I did, I would be out of the grant program because it's a state-run program. So now I'm in worse shape than when I started. My house is nothing but an empty shell with all my belonging exposed, with the contractor material left when they supposed to finish the job. Now I am in a situation where I can't afford to get another house and I'm still paying bills at this house. My family have no extra room for me and right now I am living out of my car with some of my belonging with me. Please can you help or get to the bottom of this. I don't know which way to turn especially because of the holidays. I am at my whit's end.

I was previously told that I was eligible for the Restore Louisiana program to make repairs to my home after it was damaged by two hurricanes. After applying, I submitted all requested documentation. Two inspections were done on my home. I continued to follow up with my case worker, Geneva Pilcher, numerous times only to be told that I did not submit the requested documentation, however no phone calls or correspondence was ever received to request said documentation. I continuously received conflicting information from my case worker. The case worker finally advised that I did not qualify for the program because I received $46,000 from my insurance but didn’t use it for repairs. I used all proceeds and more for repairs. She could not explain this. I was told that I was not getting an award and I would be sent correspondence on how to file an appeal which was never received. After calling my case worker numerous times without a call back, I logged onto the website and saw the option to file an appeal which I did. I received a phone call from ***** ***** indicating that she was handing the appeal. She requested additional documentation showing what I spent on repairs for my home which was emailed to her on the same day. She additionally stated same as the case worker that I did not spend $46,000 of my insurance proceeds to repair my home but couldn’t explain how this was determined. Within in three days of submitting my documentation I received the first letter that I had ever received from this program indicating that my appeal was denied based on not submitting documentation. I never received a phone call requesting any additional documentation. I have called and left numerous messages for Ms. *****. I have gotten absolutely no assistance from this program. I am living in a house full of black mold. My insurance coverage was minimal and did not cover all repairs. I have called the 800 number to no avail. I am requesting a response from someone over this program.
