I am rejecting this response because:

To whom it may concern I ******** w ****** am rejecting the repairs made by Atchafalaya Homes repair man There are still thousands of staples in the wall some sticking out scratching friends and family as they pass. Everything in the module home is lending to the right.I was told that someone would come out to make sure the home was level Instead I got a paper printed of the internet saying the house was level and passed inspection. And there may be problems with the walls but nothing was done I was told that the counter tops was order to be changed and it’s been 4 weeks Someone came out to fix the broken beam under the trailer and we ended up with nails coming from the bottom of the floor  no one ever check the siding falling over the trailer  The air vents are still outside out covered from the elements with a wire begin exposed. The is no attic are crawl space to check air ducts are anything. This home has no water shut off valves. Nail coming threw the floor from the beam being repaired.  Other nails trying to come threw the floor from the beam being repaired.  A few repairs that was done was repaired with gorilla glue. I am enclosing pictures of the repairs with the nails and other nails coming threw the floor.  The letter brought by the repair man saying was from the fire Marshall saying our home was level.

We are more than happy to help Mr. ****** take care of these staple holes, although this is not a requirement. As a customer courtesy, we will take care of it for him. We received documentation from the movers that the home is leveled. We have talked to the manufacture about the siding being wavy as well as the countertops; we are waiting to hear back from their engineering department. The countertop has been ordered; however, we have not received it yet. Mobile homes do not have attics or cross spaces. The home has a main water shut off valve located in the laundry room. The service tech has shown this to Mr. ****** on a couple of occasions. Our last trip, we did not find any nails sticking up; however, when we go out to his house, we will be happy to check that and take care of any outstanding cosmetic issues. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I am rejecting this response because: True there was work done but the staples are still there in the wall The counter tops were submitted to be change sinc the 4/of 2023 There still waiting on parts. The guy reported broken beams under the mobile home Atchafalaya Holmes service man. Which was repaired with nails coming up into the home. The home is definitely not level  the dirt is presently washing away .  The intake and output units on the  central unit is exposed to the elements and shuts  off the air any times it rains. The services guy came to repair the siding. And said himself it was a job for the manufacture to fix I also have pictures  to go along with my complaints. The land was suppose to be done by a licensed person to level and lay the pad but he was only licensed to do the septic tank that had clearly been covered by  myself and family.  I had a independent contractor come out to see if the pad was laid right and  he also pointed out that the dirt was washing away from under the home  all I’m asking is that I be made whole for the things I purchased  in my home Thank you

    Sincerely,

    Please see the following:

    1. Staple holes in the wall- This is a cosmetic issue more than likely caused by the home being shipped up and down the road. We normally do not cover this but in an effort to satisfy you, we will putty some of the staple holes.

    2. Broken beams- Our service man has inspected it and can verify that there are no broken beams.

    3. Leveling of home- The movers have provided documentation explaining that the home is adequately leveled. Mr. ****** has received a copy.

4.We have no control over washout due to rain. I suggest that Mr. ****** plant some grass around the edge of his pad to help hold the dirt when it rains.

    5. We will contact our AC contractor and have the unit inspected to make sure that everything is functioning properly.

    6. We went out today (June 7th) and repaired Mr. ******’s vinyl siding.

In addition to making an effort to satisfy Mr. ******'s service issues, we also paid for his electrical pole and instillation. Mr. ****** was supposed to pay for it out of his pocket, but he didn't have the money. We paid $4,600 on behalf of Mr. ******.

I am rejecting this response because:

This is not the home we purchased. We went to the lot at Atchafalaya homes and was shown a mobile home by the salesperson, we chose THAT home and started paperwork.  In late September that salesperson left abruptly and we were handed over to Ms.Dev. After looking at the home for a 3rd time on a final walk through we were sure that was the one. We asked Dev that day why there was no sold sign on it and she stated that she was gonna put one after the paperwork was signed. We signed and began the process of getting it here. We were aware of "stress cracks in the sheetrock" as we were shown. The home got here the first week of November and when they pulled it in I noticed damage to the rear of the roof and the front door was not the same. I was told by the movers that this was not the home we looked at that it was another from a different lot with the same floor plan. I sent pictures to Dev of the damage that day. She told me to put in on the 30 day list. 30 day list... you have to live in the home for 30 days to see all the little issues and turn that in after 30 days, if you turn it in before 30days they not responsible.  After connecting the utilities we moved in 2 weeks before Christmas.  Then we noticed that all the floors were coming up throughout the home. There are multiple issues with the home. We have issues every day.  This is not the home we purchased. We were then made aware that Dev was no longer there and was getting apology after apology for what she did to us. Around January 25th they sent some one to repair some of the issues. Not the roof bc they couldn't decide who did the damage. They fixed the cracks and tried to change the old door that was beat up with a new door but have to order a new door bc this one don't fit. Still not the door on the home we were led to believe we were purchasing. After banging the floors down with boards and sledgehammer they are still coming up and we still have multiple issues.  The craftsmanship of the home is like kids put it together. We were deceived by atchafalaya homes and Dev and did not receive the 100,000.00 home we purchased. We are requesting the home we purchased.  All of the employees knew or do know now what was done.  I am rejecting this response. I am fighting for my family we did not deserve this. We offered for 2 employees to come to our home to view the issues  they never showed said they would.  I wonder if they would live in a home like this or if they would like to be treated like we were. I am rejecting this response.

Ps now my lights are flickering when we turn off and on the ceiling fan. This is safe they said it's normal.

We do apologize that this is happening to you. We are doing everything we can to provide repairs and service your new home. Regarding the 30 day checklist, we do require you to take the full 30 days for your checklist before submission. The reason is because we want to make sure you are able to see all necessary cosmetic repairs in a timely manner, and you are not rushed when completing your list. We also no longer have the employee that you dealt with for your final walk through, because we are making changes with the business to make sure things like this do not occur in the future. Our records indicate that you did a final walk-through of the home that was delivered to your property. Please understand that we do apologize for the issues that you are dealing with, and we are doing everything in our power to make the repairs to your home and improve your satisfaction with your purchase. Please contact our service department at 337-520-2145 for any additional repairs, or an update on any parts on order.

I am rejecting this response because:

This is not the Richmond home we purchased.  On October 24 we did a final walk through on the Richmond home we were showed on the lot to make sure that was the home we wanted. Ms.Asley came along with us while the papers were being made.  When we signed the paperwork we  believed that we were purchasing the Richmond home. We were given a cheaper version of that home. From the date of November 1 when they pulled the home in this spot I related this was not the same home. I was told by the delivery people that this was not the same home on the lot but another home from a different lot. I have photos of the home we walked through 3 times  and photos of the home we have now, they are not the same. You people are ridiculous and knew what was going on. This is not our home and I've said it from the beginning.  And Ms. Sa***** your word is not valid with anything, you told me something totally different in our conversations over the phone. You fired the people that did this to us, you keep apologizing that this was done to us and Ms. Lynn you knew also that this was not the home we were purchasing but you sat there and gave us the wrong paperwork for a different home knowing that the home on the lot the Richmond was not going to be the home we were getting.  And Ms. Katy, you showed us the home first we trusted you . Did you know, is that why you were let go? You people should be ashamed at taking advantage of others. I repeat this is not the home we purchased.  And this response is to let you know that what you did was wrong. Instead of trying to correct what you done to us you try to push it off and apologize for it. Fix you darn mistake. Say the truth and admit to what you done because the more you people try to hide behind this issue the worse it gets. How many others have you done this to?

    Sincerely,

Ms. ******* had the right to refuse acceptance of the home. Instead, she signed the document stating she accepted it as well as connected her utilities, etc. She has been living in the home since November when it was delivered. As stated before, our records do indicate that the home Ms. ******* received is in fact the home she walked through. In regard to the repairs, both Atchafalaya Homes and the manufacturer believe all repairs have been completed. We have contacted the manufacturer and they will be sending contractors to Ms. *******’s home to check that all repairs have been completed. They will make any repairs if needed. Ms. ******* has a 1-year warranty on her home. If anything needs to be taken care of during the warranty period, we will coordinate with the manufacturer to handle any issues covered under the warranty.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I am rejecting this response because:

This is not home. This is not the home we walked through.  How can I accept a home on October 24th and this home wasn't delivered until November 1st. My utilities were not even connected til November 18th. I didn't get a parish inspection for another 2 weeks.  We didn't move in until 9 days before Christmas. This is not the home we purchased.  I invited Sa***** and Katey to come to this home to see it was not the same home, you never came.  We never walked through this home ever.  We never accepted this home.  We accepted the home on the lot that we walked through.  How many times have you done this to people? This not my home this is not the home we walked through this is not the home we purchased. This is not our home.  All yall did was apologize for what was dont to us, you don't even try to correct the issue of this is not our home.  Should I say it again, this is not our home.  This is not the home we walked through and believed we were purchasing.  I am sending comparison photos.  I have many more.  We were not allowed to come into the home until power was connected which was 9 days before Christmas.  The movers wouldn't even put the steps up to the door.  Sa***** you know what you said over the phone I know what you said over the phone.  We invited you to come see for yourself that this was not the right home, you too Katy, why you didn't come that Thurs afternoon when you said you would. Come tell me to my face this is the same home you showed us and I'll show you pictures of my grand daughter in her room or her shoes by the front door.  This not my home.  I let them work in it to keep it from falling apart.  How do you sleep at night knowing what you've done?

I purchased a new mobile home from Atchafalaya Homes in September of 2021. I paid with a personal check. The bill of sale included tax. Time went by and I didn’t realize I never received a title until I was asked for a copy of it in October of 2022. My wife used to handle all our paperwork but she passed away. I checked into it and found out that my mobile home was never registered and the tax I paid was never forwarded to the appropriate government agency. Atchafalaya Homes was notified. I received a phone message from them telling me not to do anything. Since then I’ve checked on it and left messages. I never got a call back. As of today it’s still not registered. Without a title I wouldn’t be able to sell or move my mobile home. I’m considering filing a complaint with the local and state attorney’s offices. I shouldn’t have to pay for a lawyer to force them to do what they should have done 15 months ago. On a side note, repairs they agreed to do when I purchased the home still haven’t been done. Thanks for listening.

    Mr. *****,

I do apologize for the delay on your title. I never received another call from you or any messages, other than the one time we did speak; you may have the wrong telephone number. When you called in October, we discovered that the title was still in the factory's name. It should have been in our name that way it could have then been registered and transferred into your name. However, that is something the factory made a mistake on. Therefore, I had to wait for them to send me signed paperwork that will allow me to transfer it over. It has been a lengthy process, however, I wanted to ensure that we get the documents corrected for me to be able to register it under your name correctly. You should have your title in the next 15 business days, please keep in mind the holidays do slow down the mail. Thanks for understanding.

She said ******* ( the person who left me a message to not do anything ) is the one dealing with the issue. I’ve never spoken to *******. The other times I called no one answered and I left machine messages. **** ****** took a message to pass on to *******. The title company said because I had an out of state address the day I bought the home, the original bill of sale will need to reflect the physical address they delivered my home to. I also provided my correct P.O. Box address as I don’t receive mail at my home. I hope ******* got the info. She never called me to confirm that. I’m now supposed to wait another 15 business days for the title so I don’t want to close the complaint in 10 days not knowing the outcome. I’m not yet satisfied.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 18573138, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I checked on it and after fifteen months, Atchafalaya Homes finally managed to register my mobile home. They had the title mailed to my physical address where I don’t receive mail, so it will take an extra month or so for me to receive it sometime in February. Thanks to the BBB for assisting me in the process. On the bright side, I like the home. One more thing. I was a bit impatient with *** back when I bought the home, sorry about that. I tried to be more patient this time around, even though I was never buying the company’s “ factory ate my homework “ excuse. ??

I needed a copy of the registration and was told it would take a couple of days to get it. Called a week later and was told they needed to go get it out of a box and would email it to me. When I never received it, I called back and asked to speak to the manager or owner and was told the manager would be out till next year and owner had just left to go out of town. The customer financed their home, therefore we do not have a copy of the registration. There are two different ways that the customer can receive a copy of their registration: 1. she can get a copy of it from the DMV or 2. she can contact the lender, where the monthly mortgage is paid, and request a copy from them.

Atchafalaya Homes does not receive the registration to a financed home. When a purchaser pays for their home in full, we do receive it. Unfortunately, that is not the case, whereas these customers had to finance there home and did not pay it out right. In this case, the lender handles the title and registration work.

Attached is proof of documentation, showing that 21st Mortgage handled the "Certificate of Title Fees" and "Sales Tax". 21st Mortgage, NOT Atchafalaya Homes, was the company that sent both check to the LA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY for title work. Please see attachments for better understanding. Hope this clears everything up!

Sept 25 I saw add for mobile home for sale Posted by Devine H****** ****** manager of Atchafalaya Homes Opelousas. The add stated 16 x 80 move included up to 50 miles delivered set up and anchored 2006 new AC pm for info. Price 20975. I have the msgs also where she stated she is responsible for move and new AC. I paid additional 1600 to have it moved to Pineville La. I paid on Oct 10 full asking price plus 1600 to move .She is now refusing to put the new AC in.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 11/16/2022

I purchased a mobile home on Monday october 10 for 20975$  Plus 1600 additional for the move that was beyond the 50 mile move that was included with the sale.  The add that was generated by Devine Hickman Church who stated she was the general manager of atchafalaya homes in opelousas. The add said included in the price trailer would be moved set up anchored and blocked  within 50 miles. and new AC installed.    .   I paid an additional 1600$ to have the home moved further than the 50 miles that was included.  The trailer has been since delivered and set up but no AC.   I called Devine she did not answer but sent me a text stating I would not be getting the Ac they would only pay to reset the existing AC.  The existing Ac does not work and that is not what I was sold.  I sat in Mrs Devines office and signed papers for the sale but did not get the AC or move in writing she held up the move part but when it was time for AC she refused.  I included pictures of the facebook messages where she said she was responsible for new AC and the move.

Unfortunately, our file and records on this purchase only indicate an "AC REHOOK" was apart of this sale. We even have a receipt that states, "REHOOK" of old AC was paid for on the receipt, and we do have the original copy. Being that we do not have any information about a brand new AC, we only did as our files indicate, which was to re-hook the old AC.

This customer states that they have text messages from their salesman stating that they would receive a brand new AC. That same salesman is no longer apart of the company, therefore we do not have access to those messages. Is there any way for us to get a copy of the text messages from this customer, so that we can have proof of this?

We want to make sure this is cleared up, so that will definitely help.

On September 23, 2019, I purchased a 2020 Platinum Home(#14 The Butte La Rose) from Atchafalaya Homes for the cash price amount being $143,585.00. A few days prior; September 21, 2019- the salesman and myself came to agreements(all in writing) in regards to additions and improvements that I wanted in addition to the home; which included Tax Title Licenses, 2 Car Carport/Cement Pad, Runners, etc. She(Tiffany) and I worked the deal and came into agreement on a total, which was a 'cash price.' On that date (9/21/19)- I put a down payment of $5000.00 down and was told to return in a day or two to finalize paperwork and pay remaining balance in the form of a cashiers check; which I did. We were told that our home would be ready & delivered in about 9-10 weeks. Home was delivered the latter part of Nov 2019 and from day 1; we have had nothing but trouble and major problems from the home, along with the worst customer service ever. It would take them 4-6weeks before sending out person to fill the work orders. Needless to say; after almost 2 years, we were left with no other option than to file a complaint with the States Fire Marshall/Manufactured Home Commission-hoping that would give us some options, but with minor recommendations, I was still left at a stand still. It has now, been almost 3 years to the date of delivery-and I still have not received the title for my home, nor can I get any response/legitimate answers from anyone employed at Atchafalaya Homes, as to the reason. Along with the never-ending list of things; still yet to be finished/repaired, there's also Final Sales Paperwork discrepancies that were done after-the-fact of sale; including but not limited to- fraudulently Forging my signature on documents where info was changed, Manipulating multiple Purchase Agreements, which are different than the originals signed by myself and salesperson at the time of purchase, not honoring agreements made (ie., I had to pay out of pocket for 2car carport/pad), etc..

    To Whom It May Concern:

Hopefully this will clear up this customer complaint for ****** ******. This customer purchased a home in September 2019. Since the home was delivered months later, we sent out the title that was paid for to the customers, and we even have proof the customer signed for their title acceptance. Next, there was no charges for a 2-car carport that is being claimed was included in the purchase. Although it may have been discussed with the saleman in the original sale, it was never included in the cash price that this customer paid. Our official purchase agreement only indicates the following is included: Delivery, AC, Skirting, 2x Steps and Dirt Pad with runners & perimeter. Being that a carport was not apart of the purchase, we would not be able to pay for this. Lastly, in regard to the timeline of servicing the home, our service department has been in contact with this client and serviced their home on many occasions. Service can sometimes take a few weeks when parts are having to be ordered for that specific home. Mr. ****** was requesting service in early-mid 2020 when COVID-19 hit, therefore we did have trouble getting some of their parts in a timely manner. We understand that can be frustrating, but we can assure that everything to our possible means has been taken care of with this client.

We are not going to accept what Atchafalaya is saying.

We do not have a title in our name, yes they did charge us for the carport. As the other spoke person from Atchafalaya was saying, how things got beside because of covid. Totally understand. But theycare taking all this extra time for our so called warranty to go out. The never came to finished what was on the list of repairs. I would gladly sit with someone from Atchafalaya to show all our paperwork, and make them understand what all this issue is about.

    Thank you

These customers purchased a Platinum home that comes with a 1-year parts and labor warranty directly from that factory. Within the first year of owning their home, these customers were serviced by the factory on numerous occasions and issues were resolved while they were still in warranty. Once their warranty expired, customers wanted additional service. These things were not covered in their purchase. Atchafalaya Homes has done everything in our power to service the home during its coverage time. Post- warranty, a State Fire Marshall Inspection was also ordered. Words directly from the State Fire Marshall Report are as stated: "Any other defects listed on the form are HOMEOWNER RESPONSIBILITIES." The State Fire Marshall also noted, "Retailer is responsible for the following: NONE". Please see attached report for reference. We are sorry that we cannot assist anymore.

As he said in his last message. They have been out here numerous times. But the never completed the job.

The front door needs to be changed and also the long front window and one of the bedroom windows need to be changed. That came from the fire Marshall.

The guy they sent out here completely disrespected me in a very horrible way. He was using the rest room out side, and I came out the from the corner and saw him. I was horrified!!! I still have time to file the charges on him for exposing himself to me. Police has report. This is who Atchafalaya hires to come out to a woman's house and do something like that. I would really like to sit down with the owner of Atchafalaya. That way we can show what we have and see what he had. He says one thing and we have issues going on that just doesn't make any sense. Face to face response with paperwork would lead to a better understanding to all of this conflict, and to show on our paper we were charged for the carport. Please let's set up a meeting for both parties to understand what's going on. Because this will continue without us showing and understanding on both parties. Thank you

We have sent out the paperwork that the ******* paid for, and they singed for their paperwork. We have completed all necessary and paid for inclusions with this purchase. We have also completed a State Fire Marshall inspection, and per the fire marshal, Atchafalaya Homes is completely finished at the property. Finally, we have attached documentation in the past BBB responses showing we are no longer responsible for any repairs at the property. Thanks!

Paperwork provided was initial agreement but that was not what was finalized. Our records indicate no proof of carport or parking pad on signed purchase agreement. Proof of received title work with signatures has been given. Best of luck!
