  The four stars this company lost are solely due to their Maintenance Supervisor. Having worked in that role myself, I was shocked by the incompetence and unethical practices I witnessed. My condenser developed a leak due to a manufacturing defect, and the technician recommended a silver solder repair to his supervisor. However, the supervisor pressured him to push a new condenser for $5,287 or a full outside unit replacement with the cost "To Be Quoted."
  Sensing something wasn’t right, I asked the technician to show me the leak, expecting it to be in a difficult spot like the cooling fins (which would still be an easy repair). Instead, it was in an easily accessible area. When I questioned why a simple silver solder repair wasn’t being done, the technician confirmed that this was exactly what he had recommended. I politely asked him to let his supervisor know that the supervisor’s actions were the reason they lost my business.
  Even after following up, the supervisor continued to push a repair for $1,997. Today, another company completed the job for $847. This kind of strong-arming is a disgrace to the industry, and it’s troubling to think about how many people have been taken advantage of by this company’s Maintenance Supervisor. I strongly recommend always getting a second opinion.
  No matter what someone might tell you, a properly done silver solder repair will hold up better than the original manufacturing solder. I only hope that my family, friends, and neighbors don’t fall victim to these questionable practices and that the Maintenance Supervisor faces the consequences of his actions.

  This is **, I am the operations manager for Professional Heating and Air. I'm sorry that you are unhappy with your service. We never have any intention of strong arming our customers, and they are always welcome to look for a second opinion or a different price. That being said, the $1997 that we quoted you was not meant to rip you off. We never advertise being the cheapest company in town, but we stand by the fact that our work is some of the best quality in the industry. In order to properly repair your unit, we would have had to recover any existing refrigerant in your system and send it off for proper disposal. After the leak was repaired, we would have also had to cut out and weld in a new filter drier as well as do a standing pressure test with nitrogen. After that we would have had to pull the system down to $500 microns with a vacuum pump and micron gauge, which can take several hours. Once all that was done we would have had to completely refill your empty system with refrigerant. Once the system was up and running, our technician would have gone through the entire indoor and outdoor system and checked all of the electrical, ductwork, and mechanical components. To do this repair properly is time consuming and does come with a high cost. I am glad that you were able to find someone that could repair your unit within your budget, and I hope it continues to run well for you.
