I'm glad I got certified and made job fairs by taking the 5 month Electrical course at SLCC.. We didn't learn anything though! We'd all be lucky, after 5 months, to wire a switch correctly! We just managed to waste night after night, covering Employability, Math and Measuring, Site and Construction Plans, Safety.. We spent at least a month, somehow, on the process of cutting, reaming, and threading pipe, having everyone do the same exact simple process, many nights, before calling it a night and going home.. We barely bent conduit, but spent at least another month discussing nothing relevant about the process of it; We bent a few times, and were literally loudly barked at, because we slightly 'dog-legged' it.. We are now certified idiots, and while I hope my certifications land me a job, I am beyond amazed that a teacher that intelligent, knowledgeable, and experienced, could waste that much time.. I just want half or 3/4 of my money back, because that was truly terrible.. The instructor enjoyed many laughs at the ways we could get hurt or the hard work we'd be doing.. Yes we covered many things, so briefly that none of it was helpful, learned, or remembered.. If the goal was to cover nothing relevant I'd say he did an excellent job.. Wasting time, night after night, Excellent.. I'm sorry, I just want things to work out, and this has made a miserable life for me not look much brighter, after I was very fortunate to take this course, and my retired Dad charged very heavily, after being approved then denied financial aid, and charged over $1,000 for dropping out of Culinary a few days late..

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. At SoLAcc, we take these concerns very seriously, as our mission is to transform and enrich the lives of individuals and communities. Mr. ****** made us aware of his concerns and we promptly initiated our Student Grievance Resolution process and conducted our own inquiry. As a result, SoLAcc informed Mr. ****** of the Louisiana Community and Technical System Guarantee Policy, which is designed to ensure student satisfaction and success. In accordance with this policy, we have offered Mr. ****** the option of retraining at no additional cost. We are committed to resolving this matter to Mr. ******** satisfaction and will continue to work with him to address his training needs. With regards to his additional claim regarding payment for the Culinary program, we are understanding of Mr. ******** frustration and disappointment. By his own admission, he resigned from this program after the established period deadlines and thus is ineligible for the requested refund. SoLAcc publishes these dates far in advance to ensure that there is no confusion on our students’ part, and that our institution can fulfill its own obligations and requirements.

I am rejecting this response because:

Nobody mentioned anything about retaking the course; I am a damaged, certified dummy, and the instructor had nails put in my tires, and my AC suddenly went out, as he had his second unprofessional fallout..

I just feel very damaged by the whole 5 or 6 months being a complete waste of time: finally covering the multimeter on the last 2 days of class, and never troubleshooting or doing anything Electrical 99% of the time.. You sound content to have basically robbed my Dad of $8,300 as the lack of a course was $6,000; the student accounts credited then deducted $1,300; and again, you sound content with taking an additional $1,000 for the day or two of lateness.. Factor in the damage the instructor did to me, my vehicle, and my home, and you essentially got $10,000 out of us: not counting how I personally feel just damaged...

      sorry,

      Sincerely,

      ******* ******
