General Contractor hired a subcontractor that has left the job incomplete for over 2 months. I have attempted to resolve the situation multiple times by asking when i could anticipate the job being completed. The contractor is giving repeated excuses and trying to get more money from me stating that the completion of a particular piece of the project was "extra". I told him that he provided me a quote based on a complete job and the job is not complete. I have informed him that I will hire someone to complete the job if I cannot get a resolution within a reasonable timeframe. It is such a small portion of the job accounting for about 2% of the overall project but its i completion renders the entire rest of the project useless. Business Response

In Response to the complaint: Yes this was subbed out to ******* ******* and the door is a special order from the factory. I have called many times but its a factory they don't get in a hurry for 1 door! I have also tried to buy another door, thru ******* ****** **** ***** and other sub contractor's. There response, do not have, cant get it, and that is a special order never seen one. So if he wants to get it from some one else that's fine, just deduct the 2 % and pay the balance. This is Standard in Construction, to pay for what is complete! , in percentage.

      Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
After reviewing your response through the Better Business Bureau messaging system, I am requesting the following documents under advisement from my attorney.
The name of the company supplying the doors
A valid website for the company
A valid phone number for the company
A point of contact for this company in which we may conduct further document discovery

The date the doors were ordered: this could be submitted as a quote, invoice or similar document showing the date the doors were ordered.

In order to make a fair and reasonable determination of your good faith as a contractor to maintain your sub-contracts in good standing, determine the validity of your previous statements, and to determine a just and reasonable course of action to move forward,  Failure to provide this information will result in a forfeiture of your rights as a contractor to collect in part or in whole on the amounts due and the job will be considered wholly abandoned on the date at the bottom of this document.

Given the provided information, it is clear that the project will not be fully completed by the date in the previous demand letter, BUT, that additional work has been done since the demand letter, allowing the record to emphasize that no work was completed for two months prior to the demand letter, essentially leaving the job abandoned without communication for a period of two months, which, may the record reflect that two months with no work while supplies to complete the work up to the point of vendor delays were available to the contractor and subcontractor is far beyond a reasonable amount of time for a customer to consider the job abandoned by the contractor or any of his sub-contractors, I, under advisement and giving reasonable consideration to your claims, will extend the amount of time to complete the project to August 31, 2023.
