    I stayed in a 2 room suite at the guesthouse April 30-May 4, 2024 for $ 449 per night plus tax and resort fee. It was advertised as a beautifully appointed suite but had smashed furniture in it. Room was poorly cleaned--bathroom and kitchen filthy. Advertised to include full American breakfast, daily maid service, and high speed internet but these were not provided. Room faced street with lights but had no shades. No one at front desk during day so no way to get help. As a result of these problems, I reached out to management and requested to shorten my stay. They apologized for poor quality and modified reservation but still charged my card the full amount. I reached out twice by email and got no response. I am disputing overcharge amount t with my credit card company and also requesting additional $ 1000 refund for false advertising and fact that room was not up to basic hotel standards. Plus they charge a "resort fee" when there are not amenities such as gym or pool and no concierge or even reliable front desk service.

    My daughter, *********************** (bride) and ********************* (groom) initially selected the Degas House venue for their wedding scheduled for October 18, 2025. ***** had lived in *********** for a couple of years and ***** was born and raised there. They had high hopes for this venue and at all times acted in good faith. I am submitting a letter requesting a full refund, written to *****, the owner, by *****'s mother, ***********************, with help from *********************************, an attorney. I am also enclosing a letter from ***** to ******** (*****) detailing her experience, along with the proposal, and key emails documenting the ultimate booking, including the unexpected chaos.The enclosures speak for themselves, but I would like to summarize the main points. You will see in *****'s email dated May 5, 2024 that she visited the site with ***** on 10-29-23. At that time she met with ***** and the visit appeared to be normal. ***** made them feel important and he gave them a tour. He promised he would make numerous repairs and refer a wedding coordinator. Our family was all excited and ***** rushed to make the payment.THE PAYMENT: It was a deposit for the cost of the wedding (25%) and an amount to hold the rooms for the guests. No where did it say the money was non-refundable and no contract was signed - just the proposal. You asked if this was buyer's remorse. Nothing was bought or received. Given that it's almost a year and a half away from the wedding date, the owner should be able to find a new customer and not be out any money.The promise of a wedding coordinator fell flat because the person he recommended refused to work with the venue after a while; she was owed money on top of it. We as a family have no confidence that the promised repairs will be made and that the staff will even remember us the next time we call or when we would have come for the wedding. We would feel ashamed to welcome our friends and family to Degas H. Thank you for your time.

    12/02/22 Arrived at Degas House for stay. Room was dirty, dusty, dank. Cockroach f**** in sink and on floor. Hair on bed. I suffered asthma attack. Told proprietress. She apologized said didnt have another room. Said computer system down. Promised to reverse charge. Said it would take 10 days. Said i would receive email next day. Never received email. Went back by last day in town. Proprietress said computers still down. Promised again to reverse charge. Still not showing up on my credit card. Not answering my calls. We did not stay there at all. We were there for less than 30 mins. Degas house charge my card fir $1391.00.
