My Ac was serviced in April 2022 by Air Tech of Katy. No problems were noted. Three months later my ac is running-but not cooling. A different tech came out and said I think it is the compressor overheating and announced that i needed a NEW COMPRESSOR on a HVAC installed May of 2020 by Absolute Comfort.I was charged and then paid $1200 for labor (as the unit was under warranty for parts only for 10 years.) This did not fix the problem! The tech came out 2 more times and could not find the issue. My ac would cool for 2 hours and then blow hot air (the temperature outside was 102 degrees and 85 degrees in my house!!) On the 3rd day an experienced technician come out and said the drain line was clogged!I would like my 1200 DOLLARDS AND THE 69 DOLLARS FOR THE MAINTENCE IN APRIL RETURNED TO ME. My hope is that Air Tech of Katy will spend time to better train their employees. I have talked to the manager, *****, many times. He has made no attempt to resolve the issue.

      On March 27, 2022, I meet with a representative regarding 1) a 40-year-old gas heater 2) 24-year-old AC
      3) ductwork that appeared to be torn in places as I'd just completed a major renovation and 4) poorly insulated attic. On May 3rd I would have hip surgery limiting mobility for 3 months and anticipating a year-long recovery. Heating or cooling issues would be very hard during this time of recovery. The salesperson went into the attic to inspect the heater, ac, and ductwork. The salesperson told me the duct should have been hanging from the rafters, setting off lots of issues that the new duct would resolve. We agreed on a price and scheduled new AC, Heater, new ducts, and insulating of the attic.
The day the work was performed I looked at the duct removed that was in my front yard to find it was sheet metal, the Rolls Royce of ductwork. I started to cry, I felt totally taken advantage of by the salesperson. With so much to do preparing for the surgery, I had to wait to address this. And at that point, I came to grips that there was no turning back.
July 18, 2022, I called the office and shared my story. Admitted it had been over 90 days due to my surgery. I was told a manager would call me back.
July 25, 2022 **** called me and I shared my story, admitted it had been over 90 days due to my surgery. **** said the salesperson I meet with had been fired for lying. Knowing there was no turning back where the duct was concerned **** confirmed the salesperson should have recommended I clean the ductwork. I requested a credit for the ductwork. **** said he would have to speak with those higher up, he didn't have that level of authority.
July 27, 2022, I called **** back and he told me the decision maker said it had been too long. There were about 8 to 10 workers who performed the work, so no doubt I was telling the truth. And there was no doubt that I was sold an expensive service that was not needed. This is deceptive, a credit is warranted.

      Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/02) */
The customer discussed with our rep the cost, work, and agreed to price before any work was done based on her own statement to the BBB. I have attached a copy of the signed estimate. I believe that to be the opposite of deceptive. This work could have been stopped during the install as she noted "The day the work was started I looked in the front yard and saw sheet metal ductwork". Instead of objecting the consumer allowed our team to finish removing and then installing the new ductwork. Then after 90 days requested a full refund. Unfortunately that duct work is custom cut in the field. We have paid our vendors for the material and our installing teams for the work performed on the job. We always want to do the right thing whenever there is an issue, unfortunately in this case I feel that we have honored our agreement with the consumer and no further action is necessary.

      Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2022/09/07) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The rep that I worked with was fired because he was lying to customer, according to **** the manger I spoke with. I was lied to, I didn't need new ducts.

Yes I signed the paper work based on the lie that I was told. I did not need new ducts. As confirmed by **** the manager I spoke to. AirTech manager **** told me this person was fired for lying, Other customers called with complaints and agreed I did not need new duct.

The sales person should have quoted cleaning the Sheet metal duct. The AirTech bill states "All accessible R8duct system replacement". How can you replace R8 when I didn't have any R8 flex duct, I had sheet metal. I signed for something that was a lie.

I asked for the cost of the duct work to be refunded. Billed $4853.50 downstairs and $6880.00 upstairs.
I need to pay for the plenum, a fair number would be credit $4853.00 per floor, total $9707.00. I have a two story home, an AC upstairs and an AC downstairs.

**** the manager confirmed that once the duct was out, there was no turning back, they don't do sheet metal work. And it was hot outside.
