On Friday, February 3, 2023 I left work and picked up my younger sister from her home in Simsboro, LA in our 2014 Ford Escape. My husband was about to head to Quachita High School to catch our local school, Ruston High, play basketball there. He wanted to take the vehicle that takes less gas so we met at the "Spirit" (former name of the station) gas station aka Exxon Mobile because it was the perfect midpoint between the two of us. I realized that he was 50 miles to empty and he was going a little further than that so I filled up my tank before trading vehicles. He pulled up in our 2003 Ford Explorer and we swapped. He had been in his truck all day too. Both cars had been running normal working condition. He left and I got $10 worth of gas in his truck at the same pump. He called me a while later as noticed the Escape riding funny. He exited & stopped for a train. The Escape sputtered and went dead. It would crank, but not stay running unless the gas was being pressed heavily. The car would not make it home and had to stay overnight at the school. My husband and son had to hitch a 40 mile ride back home to Ruston, LA. We paid $80 to have it towed home. When I got in the Explorer & only made it about a mile before the truck started shaking. The more gas I gave, the less it jiggled. Once parked I left it there because I was hosting an event. Just before the event started is when I got the message about the Escape doing the same thing. Our mechanic confirmed that the gas was the issue for both vehicles. After being tested, there was water in it in both vehicles. I reached out to the store, but no one would assist. They took our info and we have heard nothing. I reached out to corporate and they pretended to help, but 5 months later I just got an email saying file it on my own insurance. In total we were out of approximately $550 because of bad gas and no one from the local store or this company has communicated with us on steps to move forward to refund us.
