Date- 07/19/22-vehicle arrived. Billed paid to release vehicle -07/20/22. Amount paid-$70.54. The business was to verify mechanical problems and make me aware of cost to repair. I was charged $70.54 with no actual diagnosis from a diagnostic machine. I stated and knew the battery was dead. I was not supplied with the actual diagnotic paperwork ; only an invoice for a receipt. The representative (*****-Manager) did not try and resolve my problem. The reference # is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. This is the reference # from my credit card charge. I did not start or move the car and I know you can't leave a BMW undriven;therefore I knew the battery was dead. I stated the battery was dead. I dropped my key off to ***** (manager) and stated to please call me before you do any work on my vehicle. ***** (manager) stated because I didn't know exactly how long the vehicle sat; It would cost $700.00. $300.00 for a new battery and $400.00 for diagnosis labor. ***** then stated until I brought $700.00 down he couldn't do anything. I offered my credit card -he replied he needed cash. I decided to have my vehicle towed from there. ***** stated the key would not be released until my bill of $70.54 was satisfied. I asked what bill because you stated you couldn't do anything until $700.00 down. He stated the techincian diagnosis a dead battery. I asked for the diagnostic report- he didn't have one but instead wrote out an invoice with dead battery. I paid the bill of $70.54. I would like the amount of $70.54 return because services were not rendered.

Regarding the above complaint, the customer towed the vehicle in, and it would not start, our minium shop charge is $62.50 plus tax. Car turned over with jumper box, needs battery, no codes pertaining to not starting, so car needed further diagnostics. Car has sat up for over a year, no licence plates, tech estimated a deposit of $700.00 for further testing and diagnostics. Cust wanted to pay over the phone, was told to bring card in person. Customer declined more work, paid shop min plus tax and had car towed to another location. We don't take cards over the phone, but she could've paid in person.

*****, whom stated he is the manager stated to me that I was required to bring cash. I was not offered the option of paying with my credit card. Once I arrived on site, he stated he was trying to save me money. ***** just realized he had offended me and he was not being honest. Why would I pay for no service rendered. I stated upon arrival that my vehicle needed a battery. He was not able to even produce any documentation showing that he place my vehicle on a diagnostic machine nor did he state upon delivery of my vehicle that I would be charge a fee for receiving my vehicle. I was instructed that before my vehicle could be released I would be required to pay a fee. Of course I paid the fee so that my vehicle key could be released.

    Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/08/05) */
We have a minimum charge of $65.00 to assess a vehicle brought into our shop As indicated on the wall of the office, which customers see as they walk in.
Our technician spent more than 30 min to actually get the car to turn over, we hooked our diagnostics computer to the vehicle, but got no codes to point out the issue, and knew that a new battery would be needed to do further diagnostics. He estimated $700, including a new battery, would be needed to find the issue of the car not starting. With no codes, there is nothing that can be printed off for the customer.
The customer was contacted and told there would need to be a deposit put down, and she wanted to pay by phone, Customer was never told she couldn't pay by card, only that we wouldn't take a credit card over the phone.
The vehicle had apparently been sitting for an extended period, had no current plates, a lot of tree debris in the drainage areas under the hood (which can cause flooding of the engine control module), and was covered in bird droppings and tree sap
Customer was argumentative and talked over the service advisor, so communication was almost impossible.
We feel she was charged a fair price for the service done, and will not be issuing a refund, per our policy of minimum shop charge, and the time our technician spent getting the vehicle to crank.

    Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2022/08/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There was no signage on the wall referencing any minimum amount for service. Nor was I informed of a minimum amount. I previously had used Eurotech services years ago without any problems. As for me being argumentative- *****, the manager failed to mentioned that he was speaking to me loudly and an intimating manner as to try and bully me, but I was unacceptable of the behavior. I was not going to allow him to intimidate nor bully me. I have never went to a mechanic shop where a diagnostic machine was used but unable to even print anything showing the use of the machine even if no results. *****, the manager is simply not being honest and attempting to cover his ****.
