    I scheduled an appt using their online platform for my husband and minor child for an eye exam and contact lens fitting at the Louisiana Eye Doctor located inside the LensCrafters in Slidell LA. I received a call from someone confirming the appt and my vision insurance. They stated they were unable to find our VSP coverage but our united healthcare would cover the eye exam. I gave the women the last four of my social so she could accurately pull the insurance for VSP. The next day, someone called back to verify the benefits pulled for VSP. She told me my husband had a $30 copay and my daughter a $10 for the eye exams. She then stated that the contact lens fitting would be anywhere from $85-$120. I didnt understand this as it was very high. She said it depends on what type of lenses you need. I said that seems high for our insurance. I asked is that their pricingshe hesitated and said yes, thats their pricing. Asked again, are you a VSP provider. She said yes. I said ok and confirmed the appt. I looked up my benefits on VSP after hanging up and it showed a $10 copay for both my husband and daughter and a MAXIMUM $60 copay for contact lens fitting. I called the store back and received a voicemail. The next day, they called me back and I told them what I found. She said, I will we are not quite in network for VSP. I reiterated that the previous day, it was confirmed by the her that VSP was in-network. She said, sorry. I canceled the appts. I went online and it shows on their website that VSP is accepted as insurance. This is unacceptable that if I didnt ask all the questions and dig in deeper that we would have paid quadruple of what our insurance covers. Its deceitful and bad business.
