I work for the Essex *************************** at some point in early spring it was decided to change our department uniforms by the administration beginning on November 1st, 2023. Even though I am scheduled to retire on December 15th, 2023, I still needed to be in uniform for the last month and half of my career. Sometime in May of 2023 I went to Bens Uniforms in Amesbury and purchased a new style uniform. The amount was taken from my account on June 12th, 2023. On September 21st our union representatives were informed that Bens Uniforms had made a mistake and due to this error, the uniforms would not be ready until sometime in ****, when I would already be retired, again, I only needed the uniform from November 1st until December 15th which I was willing to pay for. I found out about this error because one of the officers that works for me had first heard about this and called and received a refund from Bens. I then called Bens Uniforms and was told by ********************* (general manager) that they will not be giving any refunds. I informed her she already had and that the mistake was on their end, and due to this mistake, I no longer needed or wanted the uniform, she refused and became quite agitated and saying my email was harassment for outrageous reason. I told her if I was to receive the uniform at the stated time, I would have no issues but due to a mistake, on their end, they cannot supply me with the uniform as originally promised at the time promised and cannot understand why they cannot see the issue, she would not speak to me after this since she had no ability to argue the truth. Because I paid with a debit card, in June, my bank cannot help me. I think people need to know how unscrupulous this company is.
