At the beginning of September I inquired with movers to help me move into my dorm at Portland State University. They quoted me $235 for two hours with movers. I called them as I only needed a cargo van with movers and on their website they state that 2 movers with cargo van is $65/hour (which would only be $135). On this phone call they said their cargo van was broken and therefore would need to send a bigger truck. However, when I was moved this is not what I received. This company hired a random person off of ********** (who they called an "independent contractor" and this individual told me it was a job they just picked up and have never done before) to come move my items. They sent this one person with a truck smaller than cargo van to my initial location. This person was sent on not the agreed date as well. Additionally, I ended up having to pack my own car full and move many items myself (which is what I was paying the company to do). What I received from this company was not what I was promised. If we go off the pricing of their website (1 mover with cargo van - as a smaller vehicle is not an option - it would be $50 hour. The person took less than two hours which would be $100). I explained all of this to the company and said that my deposit (of $100) covers what I recieved and they disagreed and then refused to pay the person off of **********. That person harassed me repeatedly until I was forced to pay them as they now know where I live. Even before the move, there was hardly any communication from the company. I called multiple times after the initial phone call (all were ignored and never returned), emails with questions had also been ignored and I had to follow up numerous times even for the few answers I received. They didn't even inform me that they would not be performing the move themselves until 2 days before and didn't provide any information until the day of. Lastly, they provided no contract or information on how things were supposed to go.
