I am a former resident of an Akelius building on ***************. My lease ended on Sep 3, 2024 and I've paid my rent up until that date. However, Akelius is charging me for moost of September because I didn't give them the 60-day notice that was stipulated in my lease agreement (the notice I gave them was 35-days). I had tried to get the final date from Akelius but its team never got back to me after I requested the final date. so now they are charging me beyond Sep 3.Please see the attached email where I've laid out my full case and Akelius' response. Thanks.

Subject: Ongoing Noise Issues and Poor Management Response I am filing this complaint regarding my extremely negative experience living at [The edition] for the past 13 months. The constant noise issues have severely impacted my mental health, leading to anxiety and *****************, and management has failed to address these problems despite multiple attempts to seek help.1.Noise Disturbances: My upstairs neighbor shouts regularly, and their alarm goes off at 5 am every morning for 30 minutes. The neighbor next door plays loud music and games throughout the day and night, creating an unbearable living environment. The thin walls and floors amplify these disturbances, making it impossible to find any peace.2.Management Inaction: The lease contract states that all residents must minimize noise, yet management has taken no steps to enforce this policy. I have reached out to the office numerous times via email and in person but have received no effective response or action.Due to the ongoing noise issues and lack of management support, I am seriously considering moving out without additional charges. If these problems are not addressed, I may have to consult a lawyer and pursue small claims court.I urge the Better Business Bureau to look into this matter, as the current living conditions are unacceptable, and managements failure to act is deeply concerning.Thank you for your attention to this serious issue.

I answered an ad on Streeteasy for an apartment listed at *******************************************************. A woman named *************************** who said she was from Akelius Real Estate Management responded to my inquiry. I asked her if I could see the apartment, but she was never available. She would make appointments and then cancel them, or say that a colleague could show the apartment, but no one would show the apartment. She then offered to send me a video, I liked the video of the apartment, but asked to see it in person. She then told me that it had been rented. When I told her that I wanted to apply for the apartment if the other application fell through, she then, within 2 minutes, sent me an application saying that the apartment was once again on the market. I then applied for the apartment and paid her a $46 application fee. She then demanded $500 to hold the apartment, and I said that I wanted to view the apartment before committing with a deposit, then she said the apartment was rented. I have lived in *** since the year **** and have rented many apartments over the years. Something is not right with this woman or this company. I have never had a legit broker or real estate agent demand money but refuse to show an apartment in person.I believe this woman or this company is scamming people. I only lost $46 but others may lose more.
