  Working with this company was the biggest mistake I have ever made. For three months I went back and forth with their representative who at some point got fired and for some reason the company felt no need to tell me it actually took a week of me calling nonstop until I was directed to somebody else Once I started to call other numbers and the 800 number I was then told by a sales manager that the representative that I was working with ***** got fired. When I then asked why it took so long for them to tell me and if it was gonna impact what I planned on doing they ensured that that had nothing to do with anything and that I was completely fine This was when I should have pulled out because then I got connected with someone named ****. Throughout the whole course of this three month long nightmare I was promised by the original representative that everything was OK and that I was approved for my loan once it got down to the final stages I was told that in reality I was not approved that I was denied when I asked for an understanding as to why I got denied the only thing that they could tell me was that their system uses hundreds of factors to determine somebody's eligibility my issue with this is how is somebody supposed to know what impacted their credit score to stop them from being approved when they were originally approved and More importantly if you're not gonna tell somebody exactly what caused them to be denied how is that person supposed to try to go through with another company all while having their credit score impacted every single time that they start a new application

  6 weeks after filing my application - Hometap denied my application saying that I did not meet their investment criteria, coincidentally on the same day I called to complain about my assigned investment manager who consistently overpromised, underdelivered, did not follow up appropriately, and conveyed a ****** picture than apparently was the case. I was completely blindsided when my application was denied. The denial letter did not provide clear details for the decision, and appeared inaccurate. Any issues with my credit report should have been known at the time the application was filed, not after asking me to get the property appraised and asking me to make payments to bring my mortgage more current so I could ultimately get approved. I found their customer service to be unprofessional and shocking to the point of disbelief. Exercise caution.

  I want to warn other homeowners that the Massachusetts Attorney General is currently suing Hometap for deceptive and unfair practices and based on my experience, I understand ****** 2022, I signed a Home Equity Investment (HEI) agreement with Hometap for $27,000. Just three years later, Im being told I owe over $48,000 to settle. Thats almost double and nothing close to what I thought I was agreeing to. I was led to believe this was a flexible, fair investment in my home, not a financial trap.Ive filed my own complaint with the Attorney General, because I feel misled about the costs, risks, and repayment structure. If youre considering working with Hometap, I strongly suggest you read the AGs lawsuit and consult a lawyer first. Once you sign, the consequences can be much more expensive than you realize.

  A very thorough but very personalized process. Excellent communication throughout, and they worked hard to get our process completed as soon as possible. Took roughly 3 weeks from initial application to signing.Great coordination between our Investment advisor and his manager. Their great reputation was definitely confirmed in our experience - highly recommended!

  Do your research. The program is a lot less scary and when it comes down to it, it's pretty easy to finish up. What was thrilling opening up my checking app and reading all those numbers in there.
