EXPENSIVE AND INFLEXIBLE I hired ****************************************************** of Central - Eastern Norfolk ********************************************** to install an awning cover on an existing frame at my home for the summer months. Two workers came to do the installation. Although they both worked hard at the task, neither had done such a job before, restarting the job twice and calling a local awning company for advice. Due to their inexperience and a rising wind, the workers had to leave with the work undone. The second day one of the workers returned and finished the task. A total of about 7 man hours of labor were expended to do the work that in prior years was accomplished in 3 to 4 man hours. The owner of the franchise was unwilling to negotiate the cost of the work. I paid for on-the-job training as well as for the actual installation. The cost to install the awning was roughly FIVE times the cost as for previous years. *** will never I hire this company again.

It was a custom-built awning that was originally installed by the person that made it. It was a lot more elaborate and intricate than a store bought awning or what you would find online. Not sure why that person wasnt hired to reinstall it, but we were called to put it up this year. We were told it was an  installation of an awning which typically is an easy task. We explained our rates and he booked us to do it.When our technicians arrived, the customer showed them the awning materials but had no instructions and parts were missing. The customer was unsure how it was done so we had to go at it blind. Imagine trying to put a ***** piece puzzle together and not  have a picture to go by. The two techs worked with the customer and they were able to contact someone familiar with the awning and provide some guidance. Next, one of the technicians had to go purchase materials. To worsen the situation, when the technician returned the wind picked up off the water and they found themselves at risk of losing the structure. They tied everything up and left for the day.Two days later one technician returned to complete the installation. Job ended up taking 12.5 man hours.  After he completed the project he called me and said the customer refused to pay. I asked him to let me talk to the customer and we spoke. The customer told me the guys were very hard working and did a great job. He acknowledged that there were circumstances beyond our control but would not pay the full bill. I explained that I had to cover all my costs labor, materials, overhead, etc and that I needed to at the very least cover these costs. He acknowledged but claimed he only paid $500.00 for the builder to reinstall last year. I told him I felt bad, however, we were totally transparent with our charges from the original booking and could not be responsible for mother nature, missing parts and bad or no directions. To appease him, I told him I would eat the time and charges for the second visit to complete. The total was nowhere near 5 times.

We had a small project. We wanted glass put in one of our kitchen cabinet doors. The first person to come said the door couldn't support the glass so he would have to find a door that was compatible with our other doors. after not hearing back from him my wife called and he said he couldn't find one could we look. We fired him and asked for our deposit back. The next thing we got a call from who I assume is a boss and he said he would fix the problem and not charge us for travel. This went on for a while with no communication. If we didn't call, we wouldn't have heard a thing. after three months of this going on I finally had enough and told him if it was going to be much longer we should forget it. he said he got the glass and would deliver it. He showed up with and unfinished door and stated that he didn't no what color even though he had the old door. then he was going to run out without hanging the door. I would not recommend this company to anyone and i will never us then again.

I feel bad that this small job took so long. I was at the mercy of two vendors that were actually doing me a favor to make this work. This was not an every day type of job. I had to have a cabinet company make a special door that would fit the customers cabinet. They are in the business of making lots of cabinets not individual items. This was not a profit item for them and really not a priority. After it was made I had to have my glass vendor order a piece of tempered glass (safety item) sized to fit. This all takes time. Once I received that I installed the glass, routed out and set hinges, and installed the . Once completed I delivered the item and was asked to install it. When I originally received the old cabinet door it was handed to me by the customer so I assumed I was to just deliver it. Painting or staining  was never discussed and if it had I would have told the customer that I cannot match the color and finish of an old cabinet door.

I hired Mr. ********************** to put two drawer fronts, handles, and two sets of glides. The first time they came out he looked at the job quickly and said the office didn't schedule enough time. I showed him the drawer glides and said Im not sure if these are right. He said dont worry I will make them fit. I believe two weeks later he came. There was no confirmation of anyone coming. He came and showed me their hourly cost. I agreed. He looked at the glides and said they won't work. I paid ******. The company said it was too late to return. He left to go to a store 6 minutes away and came back over an hour later. Then it was 4 1/2 hours and only one drawer done I told him to stop. He finishes up and hands me a bill for ******. One drawer. After he left I went to open the drawer and not only is it slightly crooked the door handle isnt on correctly. He also used cheap ***** glides. I emailed the office telling them how mad I am about the cost of the drawer and that its wrong. The office sporadically gets back to you. They said they would fix it I agreed and made the appointment. I had another handyman come to do the other drawer. Job was finished in an hour and a half with sturdy soft close glides. It cost me 160 . I emailed a copy of the receipt with the correct glides. No response. Before my appointment I emailed confirming he was getting the correct glides before he came. They said they were only coming to fix the cheap glides if needed and fix drawer front and handle. I said I never asked for cheap glides that are not soft close. The glides he installed are side mount. Not one drawer has side mount glides. Then the office responded I have to check with the owner but we didn't schedule time for him to replace them. I just told them to cancel. If you responded a few days ago telling me this I wouldn't have spent half a day waiting for someone to come.Yes people agree to the hourly rate. NEVER would I have agreed to that amount of money for one drawer.
