      On 11 /30/24 I presented two (2) checks in person for deposit into my account to the teller at the Brookline Bank retail branch located at ****************************************************************************************. The total deposit amount was $9,863.20. Upon being told that a hold of at least five (5) business days was going to be put on my funds, I asked to speak with the manager of the branch, Mr. ***** *****. I waited in the bank lobby for 20 minutes to speak with Mr. ****** but he refused to come out of his office to speak with me despite him seeing me through his glass office. I left my name and phone number with the teller requesting that Mr. ***** contact me **** regarding the hold on my funds. Several hours later Mr. ***** contacted me via phone. I requested that the hold on my funds from that day's deposit be released, and explained the urgent need for the request as being a small business owner and needing immediate (i.e. next business day) access to my funds to cover outstanding checks that were poised to clear my account within the next 24 hours. Mr. ***** flatly denied the request. I further explained that I had been a Brookline Bank customer since 2019, and that the bank's other retail branches which I visited to make in-person deposits over the last 5+ years NEVER put a hold on my funds regardless of the dollar amount, and deposits were ALWAYS made available the next business day. When Mr. ***** claimed that he had no control over this, I asked him why this was never a problem at their other retail branches, including the one just down the street located at **************************************************************************. Mr. ***** then changed his story to say that he "did not know me" and proceeded to become belligerent and attempted to extort me by threatening to freeze my assets with the bank and to close the account against my will. When I told him this would cause irreparable harm to me and my financial situation, he became verbally abusive and again threatened me by stating it was at his power to control my funds.
