Our engagement with *************** Souza of Evolution Pro Service began on April 21, 2023. We entrusted him with a renovation project encompassing our outdoor cabana and expansion of our back deck, backed by substantial deposits amounting to $18,500. The project's scope included demolition, rewiring, weather damage repairs, wall reconstruction, flooring, cabinetry, plumbing, roofing, and more. ****** began to renege on this commitment to us 5/12/23, evidenced by video and text messages. His involvement in unrelated projects on social media raised concerns. Rainstorm damage to the exposed roof heightened structural worries, and ****** failed in his promise to adequately assess damage from that.On June 12, 2023, ****** disclosed complications with another project, leading to more delays. We issued a demand letter as a contract addendum, specifying expectations, including the $3,300 deck reimbursement by 6/10/2023, daily work, and material delivery by 6/16/2023. Regrettably, ****** didn't meet these commitments.During this period, our attempts to contact ****** were met with a string of unfulfilled promises and inaccurate timelines, all recorded by text messages. On 6/20/23, ****** confessed to misappropriating our deposits and made the unusual request for us to procure the remaining materials, despite our deposits having already covered the material costs. Despite his repeated assurances, he abruptly abandoned our project on 6/21/23, claiming an inability to repay until 7/22/23.Currently, only the roof, floor, and an exterior door are completed, displaying subpar quality. Crucial aspects of the project remain partially done or untouched. This pattern of deposit misappropriation and contract breaches echoes across multiple customer experiences. In light of these circumstances, we are seeking a full refund of deposits paid, and a comprehensive investigation into Evolution Pro Service's practices to safeguard future consumers from encountering similar hardships.Customer Answer

My name is ***********************, and I live in ********* **. I want to complain about a contractor named ****** Souza. I agreed to remodel my kitchen with ****** Souza in a contract I signed in July. Work was scheduled to begin in the first week of August. He took the down payment of $10,000 from me to buy supplies and other materials. He put off the project until the middle of August, claiming that the cabinet maker had made a sizing error. The second time, he claimed that a small number of his contractors had COVID and that he could not complete his work because they had been quarantined. The third time, he canceled the contract for no reason, and he refused to refund the money. I have tried contacting him many times by phone and text messages, but he is ignoring my calls and messages. He also changed his company and phone number. Costa and Souza Carpentry and Painting was his prior company name. Since that time, he has renamed the business to Evolution Pro Service. His new phone number is ************.Business Response

Good afternoon, this accusation is a lie, I always answered and answered his messages, I have a photo and print of the messages, I canceled the job because they started asking for things more than what is in the contract. and didn't want to pay for it and claimed it was included. I, they are Indian and they like to do this with many companies, so I promised to return the money to him and asked for a deadline because I paid 12 thousand only in the requested office and as it is by measures I cannot make the return so I will pay out of my own pocket, I never refused to return it, it's so easy for the person to only see one side or hear the one side. but look at the other side too and tell the truth because lying! you don't need it, I have all the evidence here and I already talked to them today and I said I'm going to return it, everything is fine I don't want money from anyone, he said I didn't answer the phone, of course they called every 30 minutes I work I need to work I'm not just staying on the phone. with them joke that I'm honest and true I have proof here you can say that I send everything, in fact they will have to prove it because they called me a thief, that's not me I never have several clients I had no problem no and I don't have it with anyone, and I just exchanged name the company because I have a partner now, and apart from the threats he said that he knew where I live and that he didn't. than he is capable of doing this is not fair i have never denied and never denied payingCustomer Answer

Dear ********** ************** i was not able to leave my response to the previous reply. Please accept my apology. As you would imagine, i am going through lot of stress right now because of the contractor, who has been nothing but very difficult and rude to deal with.
I handed him a down payment of $ ****** back in June, and for the past five months, all he has done is keep making excuses. After changing the dates three times, he canceled the work in August. The first time he came up with the excuse that he ordered the cabinets, but the ********* made a mistake, and the second time he came up with another excuse that his workers had COVID (which I doubt it). He promised me that his employees would be there a third time, but they never showed up.
After posting online reviews and complaints, he finally caved in and agreed to transfer $3000 for the first time and slowly will refund my money back over the coming months. But again, he went back on his words and only transferred me $1000. He texted me again, saying I am sorry and could only do $1000 this week but made another false promise to transfer more over the next few weeks.
I reluctantly agreed, but then he started acting the same way again. He didn't transfer any money the previous week, had yet another excuse about the bank being closed, and hasn't returned my texts or calls ever since.
I also have a text from him promising to return my money ***** to *****, but each time I ask him to do so, he comes up with a different justification. Additionally, he texted me saying that I could report him to the police as if he didn't care about the law.
Imagine if someone has your $****** and doesn't try to return the money and begins to ignore your calls and texts.
My family and I have experienced a lot of stress over the past few months. I would like to escalate the case, as it's been 5 months. Please assist.
Best,

yes, i made the deal with him right, but he's threatening me saying he doesn't know he's capable, look they're indian and a horrible guy to move i canceled the job because they. He started to add more things outside the agreement and said that I had agreed. but I didn't want to pay the extra so I canceled the job, as they asked me for a bespoke kitchen, the cabinets are order only, and cannot be returned, the cabinet amounts to $13,450.78, and they only gave me $10,000.00 by check. when I canceled the job I promised to return it and asked for some time because I would have to try to sell the cabinets or see if some project could be the same and the same size but I couldn't, and so I said I would pay them the money but I wouldn't be able to return everything back one time. he agrees but he calls every day and every time to ask the same thing. I can't answer all the time, and he's threatening me, I already said that I'm going to pay him all this as I'm a small company I don't have capital yet, so I've already talked to him, I have a print of the conversation and report, and besides that he's making a fake profile for I don't think it's right to harm me. I'll be here for whatever it takes. He's stupid and keeps threatening me.Customer Answer
