I recently completed the Driving Innovation Through Generative AI MIT xPRO, in Collaboration with Global Alumni, course and was left extremely disappointed. I dont feel I gained any genuinely useful skills, and the overall experience felt rushed. Much of the coursework amounted to busy work, with little to no hands-on engagement. There was no one-on-one time with the instructors, and most grading fell to my peerswhich wasnt especially helpful. Additionally, the video content was poorly produced, a surprise given the $2,500 price tag. The course felt more like I was paying for a certificate rather than getting real value or a quality education. To make matters worse, they have a seven-day refund policy that wasnt disclosed at enrollment, which feels unfair. On their website, the program makes bold and exaggerated claims about learning by doing, yet the vast majority of assignments are long- and short-form essays rather than actual, practical exercises. They also claim students learn from peers, but in practice, its just peers grading each others work with little to no input from the instructors. Its hard to see how this fosters true learning. Hands-on projects are few and far between; instead, most tasks involve writing about theoretical ideas that arent realistically achievable. Ultimately, the lack of instructor involvement and the restrictive refund policy feel very questionable. I doubt Im the only one who has had this experience, and I believe a refund or some form of compensation would be fair, given that the course didnt live up to its promises or expectations.
