I reached out to multiple employees and even talk to the engineer about a project I wanted to have done and was told by everyone was possible so I agreed to hire them. I paid a $2000 deposit plus an additional $310 for it town permit for the job after one and a half days of them on the property I asked them why they were in work in a certain area they told me they were going to replace my septic tank which is not what I hired them for. After speaking to the engineer again, he told me it is not possible for them to add a second septic tank behind my detached two bay garage which I had spoken to him and several employees prior saying they can. I was then told they would give me a refund for the job. Upon receiving the check it was for only $500 and not the $2310. I have emailed them and reached out to my bank about the issue. It was very fraudulent on their part to tell me they could do a job just to find it out after they get paid that they can’t do it and they only refunded me a fraction of the cost.

McClure received an intake call from the Client about his project. Prior to drafting a professional service agreement (Agreement) a staff engineer called the Client back to discuss the particulars of the project.  The Client was informed of the restrictions (size) of his property relative to the Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Title 5 Regulations governing on site sewage disposal system and provided a professional opinion on how his project could move forward and meet the local and state regulations.  After the telephone consultation, McClure provided a written Agreement that details the Scope of Work that was needed to bring the project in front of the board of health for approval.  The Client signed the Agreement and returned it to McClure along with the retainer and a check for the Town to cover the soil testing applicaion and fees.  Upon receipt of the signed Agreement, McClure executed the Agreement, sent a copy to the Client and commenced work on the project.  The work required professional office staff to perform property research prior to initiating the survey work.  The survey crew was then sent out to perform the existing conditions survey.  While on site the Client asked field crew questions about the work and was told to call the office staff with any questions.  Upon discussion with office staff the Client indicated that he did not want to go ahead with the engineer's recommendation at this time but understood that McClure had expended a level of effort to date which the Client would be happy to have taken from the retainer.  McClure immediately stopped working, closed the project and billed the Client to date.  McClure also contacted the Town to see if they would issue a refund of the soil test fee, which will be returned to the Client upon reciept.  At this point McClure assumed the project was closed.  McClure was surprised to see notification of a BBB complaint as it is the first one in the firms history.  McClure takes pride in educating our Clients in the complexities of what seems like routine projects to ensure all parties are fully aware of the level of effort required for a successful project.  McClure did speak to the Client on multiple occasions and took care in developing the Agreement for this project.  McClure completed the billing of the parties as discussed in telephone conversations and would be happy to discuss further with the Client to resolve the complaint. We can be reached at 508.248.2005.
