We purchased our home in May of 2021. As part of the sales agreement the previous owner was responsible for having a new septic system installed on the property. The previous homeowner hired A-1 Septic & Sewer to perform this service. Installation of the new system was completed around the end of June.We noticed around the end of August that there was a small drizzle of water coming from the stone retaining wall. At that time, we did not think much of it as we assumed that the soil was still settling. Then in the Spring of 2022 we now have a large rush of sewer that gushes from the stone wall every time the pump runs.We contacted A-1 and they sent someone out to look at it and basically tried to blame the ********************* company that designed the system. They told us that they have all of their legal inspection papers stating that the system has been approved. So, it is not their problem. They have sent us a bill for that visit of $200 which we have no intention of paying as we feel that when an over $20,000-dollar septic system is installed brand new that it should work effectively for much longer than one year.We have spent all summer contacting **************** Health inspector asking for assistance with this issue and not receiving any. We were told that 3 inspections are normally done throughout the process of the installation, but the town has only been able to provide us with a copy of the final inspection which consisted of them turning on the switch for the pump and it actually pumped. We are now in the end of October with Winter months approaching and are very nervous to have to go through another 6 months with nothing resolved or repaired. As we have received no real assistance, my husband took it upon himself to dig up the hole and use a laser level to check it out and the pipes are 1 3/4' out of level and the end of the modules were not sealed correctly. This was checked and confirmed by ********* **********.Thank you for your assistance.

    Business Response

We installed this septic design according to plan.  This plan was signed off on by the local BOH & the engineer who designed the system.

We told the current home owners (different than who we installed the system for) that we would need to come to the site for further investigation.  We have not heard back from them.  From what they are explaining to us it seems that the system has been flooded but hard to determine over emails and phone calls.  We sent out sewer tech's to the site and they determined it needs further investigation.

Just because a system is brand new does not mean that it cannot be in failure .  We have seen systems go into failure within 6 months of installation.

We would be happy to send one of our  system inspectors back , however we have not heard back from the customer.  I have the email thread on hand if needed.

    Thank you
