We had a terrible experience with Longfellow Design Build. The project was delayed for months, communication was poor, workers were unprofessional, and safety was compromised. At one point, they left our roof untarped before a storm, causing water to flood two floors. They denied responsibility even when we showed photo and video evidence. They subcontracted workers despite advertising an in-house team, billed us by the hour without clear contract terms, and multiple inspections failed due to poor oversight. We were also misled about material delaysonly to find out the materials hadnt been ordered at all. Even their contract violated MA law by not stating clear start and end dates. We escalated concerns to their CEO and VP of Construction but saw no improvement. We ultimately had to fire them, consult a lawyer, and hire another contractor to finish the job properlyquickly and professionally.Longfellow charges luxury prices but provides negligent service. We urge others to avoid them.

I live on a Circle which includes a residence that took YEARS to build by Longfellow. We've been in our house for 46 years and never had any flooding issues until Longfellow was chosen to raze and rebuild a lovely Cape home. The design is ugly BUT our problems occurred because the large trucks with which they removed and relocated huge boulders which destroyed the road. In addition they did not follow conservation regs. The result was a constant overflow "river" to drains that service the entire side of the circle that my family calls home. Horrible flooding that ruined our basement. The **** owners were rarely there through the 3 years. The work crews were there mostly in the morning only and that was if they ever showed at all........weeks on end with no work being done.It is certainly a fast growing company, having bought up many businesses and through signage gained many customers. I've spoken to many who have many complaints as to completing jobs, misleading a single, quite aged woman who was beside herself with worry and to two businesses that said they had to wait in extraordinarily period of time for payment of materials that Longfellow used.**********, the *** is only interested in making money......not in doing a good job or good service.

I want to be very clear that the line personnel - carpenters, designers, plumbers, etc.- were uniformly, professional, capable and pleasant to work with. I have no complaints with them or the work they did. However, my experience with management, from the level of project manager up, was abominable. The first red flag was that Longfellow NEVER assigned an electrician to our job. After two months of waiting with work at a standstill, it finally became necessary to hire an outside electrician even though Longfellow has electricians on staff. But the much larger issue is that our project manager was largely missing in action. He ignored phone calls, emails and questions of all sort. He lied to us repeatedly. He did not do what he said he would do. Communication was terrible.Worst of all, however, is that he billed us for thousands of dollars of work that we should not have been billed for, and which he explicitly said we would not be billed for. We repeatedly requested documentation of costs and expenses on this issue and - although we were repeatedly promised that it would be provided, that was just another untruth. We have never received any detailed information I alerted higher management to this problem. I did not receive a substantive reply to any of my emails. It was only when I made it clear that a lawsuit was days away, that I finally got their attention. So, while the actual workers and work were extremely good, Longfellow's management was so bad that I wouldn't go near them again for any reason.
