I hired ****** to do some things around my home. My husband had recently passed away and when ****** came to my home he noticed some tools that had belonged to my husband and I expressed that I was looking to get rid of them. ****** offered the tools in trade for helping me clean out my garage and shed. ****** did help me clean out my garage and did several other jobs for me which I felt were all overpriced. There was one job regarding a gate to my fence that he never came to finish. When it came time to clean out my shed ****** never returned any of my phone calls or voicemail messages-. He had already taken the tools and to this day does not pick up his phone or has not got back to me when the tools were in trade for work he never finished. The logo on his truck states Veteran Owned.and this is how he treats his customers. He is not trustworthy and should be ashamed of himself advertising that he is a Veteran.Every time he came to do a job he smelled of weed and one time I had gone out to talk with him and he was in his truck getting high while he was supposed to be working on a job.A complete stranger came to my door one day bc he saw ******* truck in my driveway and he warned me that he was a scammer and to be aware that he was sketchy. All I want is for him to make youd on the verbal agreement we had to clean out my shed- he took the tools and then ran-

    Hi *******,

Has there been an investigation launched whenever a complaint such as this is made? I for one, hope there is because I've worked very hard to build my business and I'm more than willing to provide whatever information I can to aid this investigation. If there is a board or a tribunal, I'm willing to do whatever is necessary to clear my name.

I was hired to do some projects around *********************** home in *********, **. I was referred by a friend and felt I did everything I could to meet her expectations and was saddened to know she came away feeling she had a bad experience.

I understood her husband had recently passed away a few months earlier and I wanted to help her out as much as possible. I too have had a loss in my family this past year and understand grief and how hard it can be, not just emotionally-  but the daunting task of cleaning out a loved one's belongings and taking on the burden of home improvements on your own.

One of the tasks was to clean out her garage (which I completed) and I even brought the clean-up to my own dumpster for her. I noticed the tools and to try to help her to off-set the pricing of work, offered to trade some of my time for the tools.  Anything I could do to help her, I offered.

I never charged her for the fence mentioned in her claim nor did I get a chance to clean out the shed because it was winter and I communicated this to her.  I let her know the gate was a bigger problem due to the white vinyl fence & archway. It was a bad idea to work on in the winter and I wanted to come back when the ground was thawed. In the meantime, I did not leave her hanging, I braced up the fence since she did have two dogs with 2x4's. I reached out to her again on June 2nd to follow up about the fence. This was the last call in my phone history and it was made by myself.

The previous call was on April 1st, 2022 when I was at her house working on (for no charge) taking down a wasp nest on the ********* texted her and let her know I was all set and she was on a webinar inside and said "thanks."

I did not receive any calls in my "incoming" history, only my "outgoing" from the dates provided. I have no voicemails that were ever received by the customer or text messages.

I can assure you I do not do drugs, especially on-the-job. Although cigarettes might be a vice, it was done in my vehicle away from her home.

I've always been honest with my customers. Anything that she identified as "trash" I would still look over and return to her if I felt the belongings may have had some value. Again, I was watching out for her best interest to be sure that any valuables were not tossed.

For example, I found 2 coins that were in individual coin holders and thought they were of importance- so returned them to her.  She even brought them to a "coin guy"  after I returned them to her.

I am also happy to address any concerns of the unknown third party that allegedly accused me of "scamming people" if she can please share their identity. Otherwise, the vague & baseless accusations have no place in forums such as the BBB and should not be credited against myself or my company which I have diligently built.

I am a proud veteran. I served this country and I serve my customers. If she would still like me to come out fix the gate or clean shed, I am more than willing to do so despite the disparaging comments. My work, my word, my reputation and my customers are important to me. I hope this claim can be rectified.

I have added attachments for your review.  Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions or concerns.

    Sincerely,

    ***************************

I am rejecting this response because:

    Hi *******-

I would like to respond to the bogus response from ****** at Handyman First Class.

Ir is difficult to respond to his attachments and screenshots that I am unable to download do I have no idea what his attachments are.

First of all ****** was not referred to me from a friend of his- he is merely an acquaintance and barely knows ******.  He knew I was looking for some work to be done around my house and knew of *************

****** makes it sound like he went above and beyond fir me which is clearly not the case.  Although he did help me with some things around my home he was never on time and although he would call to let me know he would be late- he often kept me hanging for hours waiting for him to show up.

The fact that my husband had recently passed has nothing to do with this so ******* statement about grief, loss and emotions is his way of making himself sound sympathetic to my situation - I clearly only wanted help with some home projects which he was paid well for.

He did help me clean out my garage and I didnt need help to offset his price- he merely saw my husbands tools as an opportunity to receive tools and said he would take them in trade to clean out my garage and shed and I agreed.  ****** never came through on our verbal agreement when it came time to clean out my shed which was in the Spring.  I started making calls to him on April 14 to clean out the shed and no calls or messages from ere ever returned- please see attachment of my call log.

Where the gate was concerned- it was winter time and he was limited on how much he could do because the ground was frozen. However once Spring came he never reached out to finish the job and once again I started placing calls to him on April 14 with no response to call backs to messages I had left.  To this day the gate is still not finished- one would think that reputable handyman would know he had unfinished work and would reach out to finish the job but he never responded to me.  ****** claims that he reached out to me on June 2 which is absolutely not true- I was very anxious to get the gate secured because he left the gate looking very unflattering in the way he had braced the posts and I did not like the way it looked.

Also ****** states that he took down a wasps nest at no charge which is absolutely not true as ****** is not telling the whole story.

On March 16 ****** was at my house to look at my dishwasher.  Originally he told me there was no charge for the braces he put on my gate but I insisted that I pay him something.  *************** was leaving he asked if I wanted the wasp nest taken down and I told him yes.  He was unable to take down the entire next at that time however as he was attempting to take down the nest he broke my surveillance camera that was near the nest (which he failed to mention).  He said he would come back to finish taking down the nest and he would fix my surveillance camera (which still doesnt work so he never fixed it)  When it was time for me to cash out with him- he said how does $300 sound ?.  I asked him to break down the amount and he told me the $309 was for the dishwasher, the gate and the wasp nest.****** did not ever do work for me at no charge- he did charge me for the wasp nest.and broke my surveillance camera.  I had to continually call him to finish taking down the wasp nest and fix my camera from his March 16 visit and he finally showed up on April 1- so I waited 2 weeks for him to finish taking down the next and he never fixed my camera.

****** states that he never received any incoming calls or texts from me which is yet another lie as you can see from my call log.  Between April 14 and August 22- I called him (on both numbers) and left messages 10 times with never a response- so he clearly is not honest as call logs do not lie.

I never said that ****** did drugs- I simply stated that he smelled of weed whenever he came to my home.

As far as the unknown third party goes- this man came to my front door anonymously after seeing Handyman First Class truck on my property.  He did not identify himself and when I asked his name he said he would rather not give his name and I have no control from over that.
Furthermore if ****** is so concerned about the vague and baseless accusations having no place in a forum like the BBB.I could have very easily smeared his name and reputation in public forums (and there are plenty) which I did not.

I would like to see Reillys attachments which I cannot download.

    Sincerely-
