I hired this company in October 2022 to complete work on my home which included removing flooring to gain access to my basement crawl space in order to put down a vapor barrier, remodeling my kitchen, and remodeling my bathroom. When I asked ************** before hiring him whether he was licensed to perform this work in Mass., he stated that he was a registered home improvement contractor in the state and that his employee, ******************************, was a licensed construction supervisor. I have since learned that neither person possessed the credentials they told me they had. Because I believed their statements that they had these credentials, I trusted them to do work on my home safely and in accordance with Mass. standards. They dissuaded me from getting permits, telling me the work being done did not require them. After talking to a licensed contractor I know, I learned I did need them to pull permits. When I brought this up a second time, they stalled and continued to discourage me from going forward with permits. When I pursued it further and asked for their HIC and CS credentials, which I needed to pull a permit myself, they stopped responding to me. When I then researched it myself by calling the appropriate agencies, I discovered they had lied to me from the outset about their credentials. I paid this company approximately $21,000 for the work done on my home, including an advance on the kitchen which was not completed. I now have to hire someone else to work with the building inspector and me to undo any unsafe work and then complete the project. ************** is advertising his company as "fully licensed" and continues to use photos of my home on his business ******** page as a promotion despite my requesting he take them down. I asked the company to refund me half of the money they received from me but they have not responded.
