      We hired Roger Gavin Contracting to enlarge our bathroom and install a roll-in shower. The shower was installed incorrectly, according to the shower manufacturer, and soon developed cracks on the base. After some prodding, Roger G installed a new shower but neglected to use caulking at the edge and never installed a water barrier to prevent water from leaking into the basement. Roger G asked us by email when would be a good time to install the water barrier and to caulk the gap at the end of the shower. That was 5 months ago and Roger G never showed up and never responded to numerous emails to finish the job! We're concerned about getting mold and we'll hold Roger G liable should we get any mold due to lack of the the water barrier and lack of caulking.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

      Roger Gavin Contracting reinstalled a roll-in shower unit but didn't install a water retainer at the edge. The first shower unit was installed incorrectly, according to the shower unit manufacturer. On July 31, Roger G contacted me asking me for a good time to install the retainer. I told Roger G that the following day would work out. No one showed up and there was no call or email. For 4 months I tried sending emails but couldn't get a response. Out of frustration I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Central and Western Massachusetts to finally get a response from Roger Gavin. On December 7, Roger G sent his workers over and in about 20 minutes the water retainer was installed. It took over 4 months of frustration and being ignored to get a 20 minute job done!

      8/18/2021 We signed contract for ***** Gavin to put a new roof on our house 8/25/2021 ***** Gavin put a new roof on our house for the agreed price $9400 9/7/2021 Paid ***** Gavin the agreed price $9400 1/18/2022 The roof leaked and continued to leak all winter every time it snowed. Very Early spring telephone call to report the leak and explain the situation was made to ***** Gavin, no response. Reached out again 4/6/22 via text (see screen shot of texts) He stated he would look at it on 4/7/22, did not come. He tx stating he could not make it. ***** asked what other date, no answer until 4/19. ***** asked if we need to be there, no answer. We text again on 4/25, he stated he would look at the roof Tomorrow. 4/26/23 ***** Gavin never showed up to look at the roof again. Gavin again stated i'll look at it tomorrow . ***** called several times trying to discus, Gavin would not answer. ***** responded stated" I have heard this over and over..." Gavin then called and was verbally assaultive, yelling, swearing, loud, belligerent. Stating he was having trouble with his kids, then stated "fine *** me" ******************* up due to the verbal assault. ***** Gavin then sent a text, and had his assistant call. ***** did not answer that day being very upset at being treated in such a manor.See Text 4/27 Gavin text again apologizing. 4/28/22 see texts, stated he would be over tomorrow to look at the roof.and on 4/29 He came to the house, apologized to me for his behavior stating and I called ***** had him conference , Gavin stated " I'm not a shoddy contractor, Give me time I will fix this." We hoped he would make good on his word however he did not. The roof has continued to leak. We have had to pay another roofing company to repair the roof, it was repaired on 5/6/2023. They stated there was evidence of water under the shingles placed by the previous roofer(Gavin) and the shingles placed on the valley of our roof were done incorrectly causing more damage in our home.

      BBB spoke directly with the business and they advised that they have been in contact with the consumer and they are currently working with the consumer to come to a mutual resolution that will work for both parties.
