Upon inquiring about the crossover program at New England hair academy and New England barbering which are sister schools and the only available accredited schools in our area from North shore to South shore. Opon looking into the crossover program they were trying to insinuate it was going to cost over $11,000 to do 500 hours. When somebody is using financial aid, it is important that when the financial aid is being utilized that the program description and the way that it is implemented for financial aid doesn't immediately put a student in violation to their financial aid immediately. Upon New England hair academy accepting financial aid, they do not put the program is a full-time program for the crossover program. So immediately a student seems to be considered a part-time student even though they will be completing 500 in a full-time hours And accredited 500 of their previously earned hours from their cosmetology. No less than 3 months To be completed , as it states on the website and in the rules and regulations. I have ****** available in *********************** Upon discussion I was told they could only utilize $7,500 of grants and that the rest ,out of pocket . $1,200 kit, which is supposed to be included in tuition, if accepting financial aid . You are not supposed to be charged separately .. I have written emails and filed complaints and requested a breakdown as to how this business model is applied towards students that have already been professionals for over 25 years and entertaining the ****** crossover program, The school will allow you to " work something out with them" by obtaining loans through them. Most ****** crossover programs are no more than $5 to $7,000 total. Why is New England hair academy at such an outrageous price point when the competition is so limited that it forces people to spend outrageous amounts and add debt onto themselves because of the practices of this for-profit school.Things need to change in *************!

      Business Response

      Date: 12/17/2024

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to address the complaint raised by Ms. ****** regarding her interactions with New England Hair Academy and *********** of Barbering.

Upon reviewing the situation, I would like to clarify the following details:

Both New England Hair Academy and *********** of Barbering responded to Ms. ******* inquiry about our 500-hour crossover program, beginning on June 3, 2024. Our staff at both locations made multiple attempts to reach her, leaving voice messages and following up with emails. On two occasions, Ms. ******* voicemail was full, preventing us from leaving a message. Despite this, we sent additional emails to maintain communication.

Appointments were scheduled for Ms. ******* and confirmation was sent. Unfortunately, two of these appointments were missed. However, ********* did attend her third appointment on August 28, 2024, at 12:00 PM with New England Hair Academy. She arrived over an hour late, at 1:15 PM.

During our interaction, I, as the Director of Admissions and a licensed instructor and cosmetologist with over 30 years of experience in ************** explained in detail the requirements for the 500-hour crossover program. These requirements are mandated by the ******************************************************* as outlined in the attached document.

At the time of her appointment, our front desk had an information request form for Ms. ****** to complete as part of the interview process. This form is designed to help facilitate the interview and ensure all relevant details are gathered. Ms. ****** declined to complete the form, and when I spoke with her, I tried to explain its importance. She expressed frustration, stating that, with her 25 years of experience as a hairdresser, she understood what was required and that she had already secured the necessary federal student aid funding. I again tried to clarify the importance of meeting the specific requirements for the barbering license.

Despite my efforts to explain that the 500-hour program had certain non-negotiable requirements, Ms. ****** became upset, stating that she only wanted to complete the necessary hours and that everything else had been covered in her cosmetology training. She mentioned that other schools offered cheaper programs with fewer hours and indicated that she was dissatisfied with our approach.
At this point, Ms. ****** left the premises and later called the office to inquire about pricing again. I reiterated our process for sitting down with potential students to discuss the program, after which the call was abruptly ended.

We understand that Ms. ******* experience did not meet her expectations, and we sincerely regret any frustration she felt. Our goal is to ensure that all prospective students understand the requirements and have a clear path toward their educational and professional goals. We remain committed to offering a comprehensive program that adheres to the standards set by the **************************************** and Barbering.
