An employee from this business forged the signature of my grandmother, resulting in theft of $415. They were called in to give an estimate for work on their chimney. The scheduled work was later cancelled. Upon doing so, the company charged them $415 for work that was not done and forged the signature of my grandmother on a receipt that she had never been presented with that specified that the money was not refundable. My grandmother never agreed to this transaction, and the signature on the receipt is not hers, rather someone from the company illegally signed on her behalf committing a crime.

Dec '24: Totally scammed us out of $700 to paint a tiny section of the chimney. Had a great rapport with *** but was in and out of meetings so I didn't have time to fully vet the process. The $4K bill was talked down to $3K but then we found that that was too high so asked time to think about it. My wife literally said "I dont like to be pressured into buying anything."Still charged us $700 for literally 20 minutes of work. Will be reporting to the better business bureau as well. Avoid at all costs!

    Business Response

    To Whom It May Concern,

We appreciate the opportunity to address the complaint filed regarding our services.

Our records indicate that the customer was provided an estimate for $2,499, not the $3,000$4,000 range mentioned in the complaint. The customer agreed to the pricing for the initial work, and we have their signed agreement on file to confirm this. The $700 charge reflects the agreed-upon service completed during the visit.

Additionally, as part of our process, we followed up with the customer multiple times via calls and SMS regarding the estimate and the service performed. We did not receive a response to our outreach, except for a message requesting that we stop contacting them.

We strive to ensure transparency and satisfaction in all our interactions and regret if there was any misunderstanding about the scope or cost of the service. We remain committed to providing professional and high-quality work to all our customers.

    FAQ

The response by Chimney Pros was a flat out lie, whether the technician scammed us and or the person who responded, they said it would be $4,000. I then negotiated it down to $3,000 but anything lower is a complete lie.

Second, we had a local chimney group come in and charge us only $1,400 for the work outlined. Additionally, the "paint" put on the chimney was not safe for fires and was meant for furnaces not fireplaces. They had to remove all the paint added or it would have caused toxic chemicals to be released (which they did as part of the $1,400, see attached).

Additionally this company would call me three times in a row every few days or so. Co.pletely unprofessional and just a scam.

    Regards,

I scheduled an 8-10am window for the chimney sweep to show up at 11:14. He came in, opened the damper, took pictures and told me the cost went from $149 to just under $800. When I told him to just do the work covered under the $149 price, he told me he wouldn't be able to. I then said forget it as I was not prepared to pay almost $800 and I wanted a second opinion. He was very rude and left. He left the fireplace and damper wide open. When I went to close it, it would no longer shut. When he was contacted about it, he said "get someone else". I contacted the company and they wanted to charge me $99 for him to come back and fix the damper that HE broke.

    To Whom It May Concern,

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to the complaint filed regarding a recent service appointment.

Upon receiving the customers feedback, we conducted an immediate investigation on the same day. It was evident that the technicians behavior and actions fell far below our companys standards. We found the situation unacceptable and addressed it promptly, resulting in the termination of the technician a few days after the incident.

We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to the customer, including the unresolved issue with the damper and the technicians unprofessional demeanor. We take full responsibility for the incident and have since implemented additional measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

We value our customers and are committed to upholding the highest standards of service. Please feel free to reach out if further clarification is needed.
