    On, or about June 18, 2024, we signed a contract with **** The Plumber (**** ********) to replace a septic pipe for an agreed upon price of $2,300-$2,500. A deposit of $1,000 was paid to him via Venmo on June 20, 2024. After several messages in June and July, I told him we were going to skip the work and asked to have out deposit refunded on August 1, 2024. His last message to me was on September 16, when he said he would return the deposit the next day. I haven't heard from him since then and have sent 2 messages as well as a demand letter on October 4, which was received but not responded to.

    We recently had an unfortunate experience with Matty the Plumber from **********, **. We called him in July about replacing some pipes with pecs/pex(?) something he had strongly recommended we do when he worked with our shower contractor in February 2024. At that time, he quoted us $1100.00 for the job. When he came in July and evaluated the materials and work that needed to be done, he asked for $2500. My initial response was no, but after conferring with my wife ******, we opted to offer $2000.00 mainly because of his medical condition. He told us he had pancreatic cancer but wanted to continue working. Before he left, he asked for $1000.00 for supplies, which we immediately Zelled him. That was also last time we saw him, i.e., July 13th, 2024. He has stopped corresponding so we have no way of knowing what his circumstances are. If his med condition was/is as serious as he said, we would have probably contributed to any medical bills, etc. Unfortunately, as it now stands, he appears to have taken advantage of an elderly couple in the ******************* of ********. I have consulted my lawyer, but he has advised it's probably not worth pursuing it. Therefore, the least I can do is go on the record to warn any future , potential customers of this business unethical, dishonest behavior.
