I visited reLeaf Alternative- Natick on August 22nd, 2024 around 4:45pm. As I presented my ID to the girl in the check in booth she claimed she would need to get the manager, so I asked what the reason was for doing that. She refused to tell me and said I cant let you in unless the manager checks your ID. I waited awkwardly for about 5 minutes as the girl tried to ease tension by saying You just look nothing like your ID picture. I identify as non-binary, and my ID picture is from a time I presented differently; however, you can recognize the picture still looks like me now. The manager finally came out, and after one quick glance of my ID he told me I was okay to go inside and claimed it looked different on their system, but they did not even scan my ID. I felt extremely upset and uncomfortable so I told the manager You need to be more careful about this kind of stuff, especially involving the ***************** The manager then scoffed at my comment and proceeded to walk away to let his employee finish the transaction. On August 26th, 2024 I left an honest one star ****** review about my negative experience, especially how uncomfortable I felt being LGBTQ+, and was reached out to publicly by the company offering a special discount to alleviate my aggravation. I emailed the ******************************* email provided in the ****** response from the business owner, and had no response for 3 weeks. Unfortunately I did not hear back from reLeaf; however, a person associated with their company reached out to harass me on social media about my review urging me to delete it. I reached out again to the same email the company provided with me to inform them that I was being harassed and they addressed everything in an extremely unprofessional manner. They claimed the company literally has 7 LGBTQ+ staff members and even went on to say that because I left a public one star review I opened myself up to harassment. They have handled the situation in the worst way possible

    *****,
I am so sorry you had a bad experience at our store. I am sad that your experience has elevated to this level. We take pride in making sure we are always compliant with the **************************** It is imperative that we stay diligent in making sure we keep anyone under 21 out of our store. We have trained our staff to be critical of all **s and make sure they are real, valid, and the person pictured. It is not to be discriminatory but rather to keep under aged people out of our store. I do apologize that my staff did not recognize you as the same person in the photo on your **. Again,it was not to bring attention to you but rather to make sure the ** belonged to you.
I do need to point out that we have cameras in the store, and I personally reviewed them. Your ** was scanned at 4:47 when you handed the ** to our staff member, and you only waited until 4:48.51 so under 2 minutes for our manager. I stand by my staffs decision in trying to be diligent in keeping anyone under 21 out of our store but I do still feel bad this happened to you.
