    We live in a condo unit in South Boston. There was a leak from the unit above in March in one of the bedrooms. We hired **** Davis to conduct remediation work and rebuild. The contract was to remove all areas in the walls and ceiling that is affected by mold and treat structure with disinfectants and rebuild the bedroom back to its original state. They did the remediation. They initially did a very poor job rebuilding the bedroom. There were paint defects and patch marks everywhere, the baseboard was crooked, the door frame was chipped, the nail on the door dram was showing. In the rebuild process they nailed the door frame in the wrong place and left the nail sticking out in 2 placed. It caused damage to the door which was fine before they broke it. **** Davis returned multiple times to repair their poor work but they could not fix it properly. Now they have sent me a supplemental invoice that is as expensive as the initial estimate which included both the remediation and the rebuild. The total estimate for the entire project was around $7,500. Theyve added another $7,500 to the invoice and now they want me to pay $15,000. I asked them to explain why the supplemental invoice is so high but they just will not give me an answer. Now they are threatening to file a mechanics lien against my property if we *** not pay the entire amount. I think the supplemental invoice in overpriced. They will not explain why it is so high. Please help.

    Good afternoon Ms. **************** we apologize that there were some workmanship issues on your repair, we fully committed to repairing those items for you and have scheduled our staff to complete that work.  Additionally, as you are aware the insurance policy for the condo unit owner above you is paying for these damages to your unit.  We worked with the insurance company directly on the full scope and cost of the repairs to your unit.  I can assure you that the price we are charging for this work is not only accurate, but also consistent with market pricing for these repairs.  All we have asked throughout this process, is that you sign the necessary paperwork to keep this project moving forward.  Since there is no out of pocket costs to you on this matter at all, we simply ask that you continue to work with both the insurance carrier paying for this work, and our staff to ensure we are able to complete your repairs as expeditiously as possible and that we are able to get paid for our work.
