When my eyeglasses were stolen back in May I contacted MEC to schedule a routine eye exam to replace them as my regular Optometrist doesn't accept my new insurance and I had been to the office before for Ophthalmology visits. I specifically asked for a routine eyeglasses appointment with an Optometrist as that is all I needed. The receptionist I spoke with suggested I see my Ophthalmologist since he was already familiar with me. I SPECIFICALLY asked if that would be any different as I receive a free optical exam from my insurance every two years and was told that it would be the same. I even asked if she was sure and was assured it was. When I went to my appointment, I was asked for a copay. I told the receptionist I don't owe a copay as my eye exams are fully covered. She said, "Ok, we'll just submit it to your insurance" Low and behold, several weeks after my appointment I received a bill for a $60 Specialist visit. I called to inquire, and the billing person tells me, "just pay it, with all that's going on in the world" The error was THEIRS, not mine, and I don't feel I should pay for THEIR mistake and carelessness. I also REALLY don't need to be lectured on the problems of the world by a billing clerk. I just buried both my parents and my inlaws last year. The full bill was $71.78. I paid the $11.78 because he performed a dilation as part of the exam, but that is all I should owe

The appointment was specifically for a routine optical exam to replace stolen glasses and that's all and the facility and doctor were made fully aware of that. It was not for any other issues as that would be handled with a specific opthalmological appointment. Again, when I called I asked for an optician and the receptionist was aware of that and told me I could see my opthalmologist for that and it would be the same. This error is their fault.

It is clear this business has absolutely no interest in fairly resolving this complaint as their response demonstrates a complete ignoring of what was stated by me of facts and a refusal to accept responsibility for their employee's error in instruction to me. How absolutely disgusting
