    FAQ

    Regards,

    ****

Hello, I have added texts massages showing that i kept getting promises of showing up and they never would show. Also where he mentioned that he told me to do the entire garage concrete over???? lets assume he was right... WHY DO THE **** That was also in the texts. He also said i dragged stuff in the garage. thats false and i told him if he would just show up he can see for himself that the job was failing. Yes i am also a Licensed contractor. If my customer called to tell me there was a problem with a job i did i would have at least showed up to take a look. New company that showed up to do the job all over again said the original job was not prepared correctly. i submitted the prep they did in the old masons folder and i submitted pictures of prep for the new job that i paid to get done as you will see there is no oil and stain because it was prepared correctly. My first complaint was on December 20 2024. He never showed up. Also he mention i didnt wait before adding things in the garage??? Sorry to say to him that i waited 5 weeks because my cabinets that i ordered was on back order so garage took longer to be used.

    Business Response

**** paid OCM to cut out a small section of concrete anf patch his garage floor.  **** had an employee of his named **** meet with us instead of meeting with thecowner of Old Colony Masons himself.  We were told to do this job as inexpensively as possible. The garage floor was very old and covered with grease, dirt, and oil stains. I insisted that we remove and replace the entire floor. The customer refused.  *** & ************************* returned twice to patch different areas if the garage floor for this customer but he was still not happy. The customer did not wait the recommended time to move items into the garage, the garage did not have a door on it and OCM brought these problems to the customers attention. The customer did not want to pay to have his floor epoxied correctly. Now he complains about a tiny scrape that we looked at and believe was caused by the customer. I suggested that **** pay for more epoxy, approximately $100.00 and we would provide free labor. Again, the customer refused. This person does not follow recommendations,  refuses to pay to do things right, and then complains. **** is also a contractor, he knows better.

I have done everything we can for this customer. I read that the customer claims that we have made promises to show up but have not fulfilled our promise. That is not at all true. We went back to re-service this customers floor twice. This project was planned and scheduled with an employee of the customer. His name is ****. **** made it perfectly clear that they did not want to replace all of the concrete in the garage. I made it perfectly clear that the old concrete was in need of full replacement, and I gave a verbal price to do so. **** insisted that we cut out, remove and replace only a small middle and heaving section of the garage. The remainder of the concrete had oil stains, dirt stains, and 80 plus years of wear and tear. We were told that the garage would be used to fix cars and that they did not want to spend a lot of money on it.

During installation, it was raining outside and the customer removed the garage door. The customer had a tarp in place but removed that as well. There was sasw dust, construction debris and other people working on the property while my team & I was working. We went back not once, but twice in attempt to satisfy the customer. **** was not present during the original installation, nor was he present for the two returned trips we made.

My son & I offered to come back a third time and would provide free labor, if **** would spend the $100 needed to buy more epoxy & clear coat. **** refused.

I told **** that the floor must be clean and in good shape before we could apply epoxy. Old Colony Masons applied acid and we pressure washed the floors before applying the epoxy. We recommended the customer not use the floor for several days after the application. We came two days later and found that the customer ignored our recommendations from day one. There was already things placed on the garage floor when we returned the first time.

We can not make what we believe is an 80 year old floor look brand new.  Epoxy does not stick to oil, grease and dirt, and we made that clear when **** asked us to do this work. **** was not present for our initial consultation, he was not present for the floor prep, or for the two coats of epoxy, decorative chip application or for the finish clear coat. **** was not there when we came back to address his complaints the first two times either.

The accusations are troublesome, given that we did not work with **** at all during the entire process. He was not there to give his instructions, instead he let his partner **** make the decisions. The only thing **** was present for was the removal of the heaving concrete.

When we removed the concrete from the center of the garage, we told **** that the entire floor needed to be replaced. He did not want to spend the money to do so. Now he is upset with the decision and is trying to put that on Old Colony Masons. Again, we already went back to help **** twice. How he can claim that we did not show is upsetting and untrue. We offered to put more time into helping ****, but he refused to spend the $100 needed for paint.

When a client refuses to follow contractor recommendations, when a customer tells us that they do not want to spend the money needed to provide a professional looking project that will stand the test of time, when a customer ignores our instructions and moves things on top of a floor just painted the day before, it leaves us with tied hands.

How does a person complain after allowing an employee to make decisions for him? We told **** that the entire floor was junk. He insisted that it would be fine to clean the floor and to go forward with the epoxy. Then he removed the garage door and the tarp and had us go forward with our work anyway. All of which we discussed in detail before applying the epoxy. If **** would have agreed to pay the $100 needed to buy more epoxy, we would have come back a third time.

**** refused to spend the money needed to guarantee the result he now claims he wanted. He refused to take our advice every step of the way, he complained before we even finished and stated that he did not tell his partner **** that he wanted the job done as cheaply as possible, but he went forward anyway. **** insisted that what he asked for would suffice for his needs, but then complained right away when he learned that he was wrong and should have followed our advise and recommendations, and now he asks for a full refund. This is bad business from a guy who is a contractor himself. **** hoped to get out of this floor job for less work and less money than was needed, and we could not have been anymore clear that ***** plan was a mistake.  The floor is the original concrete. The fact that our epoxy is bonding to the concrete at all is a miracle for sure.  Old Colony Masons put in twice as much time, and twice as much materials to give **** the floor he has now. We went back to touch up several areas that had issues because he took the garage doors down and the tarp as well during a raint day.  The debris in his driveway alone was enough to cause issues, but amazingly, my team and I kept the floor dry and clean during the application process.

I will pull the file, find the text messages, and the before, during and after pictures to prove my case if need be. Otherwise, pay for the epoxy and we will give you our time to make any repair that you want, free of charge. Thats a more than fair offer under the circumstances.

    FAQ

Same nonsense, Please provide the photos and great job you did. Just so its clear job has been redone by another contractor. The 80 year old floor that needed to be ripped up did not need to be replaced. They used a walk behind machine that prepped the concrete in no time, you used a hand held grinder for the whole job. The Dust cloud these guys made was insane and not healthy for the workers, so bad you couldn't see the guys in the garage while standing in the driveway. If OSHA drove by the fine you guys would have received would have been crazy.  The more i read response i start to see your grasping for straws. Please Explain with all the issues that you saw ( OIL, Aging of concrete, garage door not yet installed) you felt to do the job. At the end of the job i was told the job was all set. His before photo i have submitted showed after they supposedly finish prep they left all the old stuff still sitting on concrete. The before photo of new company hired shows no oil or old paint on concrete. Also i watched you guys roll out the base coat. i wasn't there for the second visit cause you guys showed at 7pm. **** is a licensed contractor over seeing the project from roof to floor not my employee. you keep mentioning $100.00 Stop. That's laughable after i just spent over 7k to have floors done properly. Please provide texts that you have showing i was a problem. Did you also forget you said floor need to be leveled and explained there is added costs and i told you that was find do what's needed. look at your slip. If i wanted as cheap as possible why are there addons to original quote? Also your job was pealing on the new concrete you poured so talking about the older concrete when the new was also pealing doesn't help.
