  The day my truck was ready JR offered me $70 savings by paying with cash/check. Having neither he told me I could leave my credit card number and drop off a check next day. When I dropped off a check for $2379.92, less $70, JR informed me the cashing system they use was not accepting my check. To receive the discount JR would charge my card the full amount, refunding me when the check cleared in a week. $70 is a lot of money so I agreed. Upon receipt of my card statement was the charge for $2449.92 but no refund of the same. JR said he refunded the money on 8/22/24 but the amount refunded was $2379.92, $70 less what he charged. On top of that, the check cleared and was cashed the next day. Why did it take 22 days to refund me the wrong amount. JR insisted the missing $70 was a charge from the credit card company because I used the card. I was shocked at this as it was clearly not true, he continued to insist. Here was the scam! Essentially, he was charging me $70 instead of giving me the agreed upon savings of $70. Continuing to argue JR finally said he would speak to the owner and call in the morning. Finally connecting, JR continued to argue his reason for the missing $70 stating he would speak to the owner. I reminded him of the previous night's conversation when he told me the same thing and did neither. Almost immediately JR called saying he refunded the $70. His return call came so quick he could not possibly have relayed the situation and refunded my money in that short time. Back and forth for over a month I dealt with this fraud. Six weeks after this began, I was able to confirm the $70 had been refunded to my account. Having written the owner of Mitchell Differential hoping to gain some insight into the matter, it has been over a month, I have not heard back from anyone. Since this is the case, it appears by accepting the offer to save $70, I walked into a scam instead. Had I not been vigilant, JR through Mitchell would have succeeded in taking me for $70.

  While I do understand your frustration, you did not get scammed and actually got your $70.00 discount as promised. The reason for the delay was actually due to something regarding either your drivers license or the checking account that you used to verify funds in your account. Our check cashing system, which we have used for over 20 years flagged it for a problem with payment. Other than the process not going quick enough for you, I think you were treated very fairly.
