      Advanced Mechanical Systems was engaged to install a new boiler and hot water tank as well as to replace plumbing pipes in the entire house and install new bathroom and kitchen fixtures.During pipe installation, the plumbers damaged the joists in the bathroom, the building inspector noted that during the rough framing inspection and I had to incur extra costs to repair the joists. The radiator installed in the kitchen fell off the wall and plumber was very rude and blamed me for sitting on it, even through the radiator is too small for anyone to sit on it. Advanced Mechanical systems plumber used inappropriate hardware to mount the radiator and that's why it separated from the wall.AMS installed a tub in the bathroom and after the ceiling below was closed the tub leaked, causing me to pay for repairs. AMS installed a boiler without a permit at our property.The building inspector did not inspect the boiler to ensure the appropriateness and safety of the installation. I was working on preparing the house for sale and called the building department to see which permits are still open. The plumbing inspector said that all of the permits pulled by Advanced Mechanical are open.I reached out to Advanced Mechanical Systems regarding closing the permits and ****** said that they will not close the permits because they do not want me to file a BBB claim. As soon as I found out that the boiler installation was not permitted, I called a licensed plumber to take a look at it and licensed plumber said that the boiler installation was not done appropriately by Advanced Mechanical Systems, since the boiler is sitting on the floor. Normally in basements such as ours the boiler is put on cinder blocks or boiler blocks. Unless the boiler and the rest of the plumbing work done by Advanced Mechanical Systems is passed by the plumbing inspection, we are not able to sell the house and we are missing the spring market and about $1 mln in sale proceeds.

      Business Response

      Date: 04/04/2024

      Six years ago, AMS installed a new boiler and water heater for **************.  We also renovated a 2nd floor bathroom and a half bath on the 1st floor.  All work was permitted with the town and the rough inspection was completed.  At rough inspection, the inspector found several violations in the home that were unrelated to our work so a 2nd permit had to be opened and that work needed to be completed prior to the final inspection on the original permit.  AMS completed all work according to code but ************** refused to pay the final balance due of $840.  This amount is still outstanding so no final inspection would be scheduled with an uncollected balance due.  ************** responded by having another plumber complete the work on her half bath on our open permit which is a clear violation of MA plumbing code.

      ****************** contention that our work caused damage to her home cannot be supported since we were NEVER informed of this at the time the damage supposedly occurred. She filed no insurance claims against our company and we have no record of ever doing any warranty repairs at her home or even receiving a call from ************** regarding damage.  She has no proof that any damage at her home was the result of work completed by AMS, especially since we know she had a 2nd plumbing company working in there along with several other contractors.

      After talking with the town inspector, we agreed to close the permits for the work we did complete over 6 years ago, excluding what was done by the other plumbing company. All inspections were passed by the Town and the permits have been closed proving that the work done by our company was proper and within code.

      We request that ************** remove all negative reviews from all forums. We also request that she pay her remaining balance due to avoid any further collection action by our company.

      Sincerely,

      **************************;
      Office Manager

      Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

      [You must provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.  If you do not enter a reason for your rejection, your complaint will be closed as Answered.]

      ****** from Advanced Mechanical Services is not telling the truth and is trying to blame the customer.

      The plumber from Advanced Mechanical Systems damaged the joists and the building inspector pointed that out. The plumber from AMS was the only person who was modifying the joists during the project. It cost me $2500 to remediate the damage to the floor joists caused by AMS.

      The radiator fell off the wall and the tub leaked. The leaked tub cost me $600 to remediate (included hiring another plumber and fixing the ceiling). My costs to fix issues caused by AMS are over $3000.

      The boiler was installed without a permit. ****** is not telling the truth about that as well. I have notified the **************************** regarding the unpermitted boiler last month. The Plumbing inspector contacted AMS and they finally just pulled the permit and filed inspection. The building inspector informed me that the staff at the Advanced Mechanical Systems were not kind to the Carlisle Plumbing inspector when he called AMS and confronted them about the unpermitted boiler. Advanced Mechanical is rude not just to the customers, but also to the town building officials.

      However, I am still not satisfied how the boiler was installed right on the floor. In our area, boilers and other equipment in wet basements are put on blocks to prevent water damage to the equipment and equipment losing warranty due to water damage. And worse, someone can get electrocuted if they step into the basement, because the boiler is using electricity and if the electrical parts get wet, it can be very dangerous. I had requested multiple times that AMS puts the boiler and hot water tank on blocks, but they refused. I have received a quote from another licensed plumber to lift the boiler and the hot water and put both on blocks, and the cost came to just under $2,000. Now I have to pay that in order to remediate issues with boiler improperly installed by Advanced Mechanical Systems in addition to the costs incurred to remediate previous problems caused by Advanced Mechanical Systems.

      Dealing with ****** and others from Advanced Mechanical Systems caused me quite a bit of stress and emotional pain which far exceeds the financial cost.
