I contracted Evergreen Insulation to have my attic insulated with spray foam. They showed up on Advanced Green Insulation trucks the day of the job. One section of the roof was sprayed with closed cell foam and the other section with open cell foam. All the foam was painted with fire retardant paint (grey color). Company indicated that any smell should disappear withing 2-3 days (with no action needed) Smell/odor did not go away as previously indicated by the company. As soon as I opened the front door, I could smell a chemical, rotten fish kind of smell that was not there before the spray foam job. Ventilators were brought to the attic and were run for a few days, but the smell situation did not improve With the situation not improving, I decided to collect core samples of the foam (both closed cell and open cell) from different locations and notified the company I was ready to send samples to a lab for testing. That's when they decided to completely remove the foam. They blamed the paint, however, the smell was coming from the foam and you could tell from some of the core samples that the foam never really properly cured The removal process was incredibly messy, making it impossible (likely not healthy) to live in the house during this time. We moved to a nearby hotel but the company only covered half of our total hotel stay (we were outside of the house for two weeks). One major issue with the removal was damage to underside of the roof decking and gable walls. Crawl bars, garden picks, etc. were used to remove the foam and in the process the roof decking and gable walls suffered serious damage. Even some of the nails holding the roof shingles became loose after being hit with some of these tools. Further, some of the HVAC ducts were also damaged The company didn't take responsibility for any of the damage to the roof decking, gable walls or HVAC ducts. I would advise you to stay away from this company
