In the fall, I took my car to Belmont Transmission when my transmission went. My car is old so I asked before making a firm decision if *** would look my car over to see if there were any other problems that would be costly, like had the blown transmission caused other damage to the car. I didnt want to invest in a costly repair if there were other things needing expensive work.*** told me everything looked ok and assured me he would tell me if he didnt think the car was worth fixing. I went ahead with the repair for a rebuilt ********************************** When I picked up the car, he said the transmission was fixed but that the car now needed new rear wheel hub assemblies and front brake ************** Having just invested a lot of money in it, I went ahead with those repairs thinking that would be it. Minutes after driving my car home, I saw fluid leaking, drove right back to be then told I needed new head gaskets. *** suggested this might be a result of the original transmission issue. After this now third repair the car seemed OK for barely two weeks when the engine light went on. At that point, I didnt trust Joes place anymore so went to two different mechanics with excellent reputations to have the car evaluated. In sum, both said virtually the same things: theres a power steering pump leak, the control arms are in bad shape, the lower engine cover is missing, theres an oil leak behind the timing cover, and worst of all oil is leaking into the coolant reservoir, which has caused swelling of the hoses in the cooling system. Both said not to invest another dime in the car.Ive had work done at Joes in the past that I was satisfied with. I dont know whats different now, but based on how things went from bad to now worse plus the assessments of two different auto body businesses that had nothing to gain from making the assessments they did, I believe the work Joes place did was inconsistent and ultimately poor and has cost me substantially.

It is very unfortunate to see this review.

Laura's vehicle came in not moving on a tow truck. We did a visual inspection of the vehicle and went through the vehicle as best as possible without being able to drive it. The coolant from the radiator mixed into the transmission and ruined the transmission and radiator. Once repairing the car so it was drivable it did need rear wheel bearings we couldn't spin the wheels by hand 20mph to hear the noise on a vehicle that doesn't move pre repairs. As far as the head gasket( only one side) leaking it was dry when we did the transmission repair and for those who aren't mechanical it can't be compromised while doing the transmission or radiator repair. It must have started leaking when the vehicle overheated from the coolant and transmission fluid mixing causing the head gasket to blow on one side. Again it wasn't visibly leaking when we suggested doing the transmission.  The car didn't move at all. Once the engine built oil pressure it started leaking. What did I do?

Although not my fault at all I did the labor for free because I felt bad for her. Unfortunately sometimes these things happen when a vehicle can't be driven. I did everything possible to make ***** comfortable with this entire process. When she left she brought my office manager flowers. I didnt realize  she felt like we were so incompetent.  We have been in business since 1979 we have been a A+ with the BBB for as many years as we have been members. We are a top shop in the ****** Area with Master Techs. I feel this review is unfair and unjust. Thank tou *** Owner Belmont Watertown Transmissions
