Chair Fair collects a non-refundable deposit of 50% for what they describe as a high end Amish furniture product, with expected delivery six months later. The same numeric identifier 104 is used to identify each of several different finishes, in their ordering paperwork and even the finish swatches. Chair Fair expects the customer to accept responsibility for any confusion that results from this duplication of ********************************** does not employ simple techniques to verify that the ordering paperwork they are filling out by hand reflects what the customer actually wants before they kick off this six months long process. (Say This is the finish you wanted, right? and hold the swatch up, arguably what swatches were invented to do.)Supervising personnel present in the store and in sight and earshot of the salesperson filling out the paperwork evidently found nothing wrong with how this salesperson conducted this work, and did not interject at any time.Six months later, the dining set was delivered and we learned that number 104 is/was used for all maple finishes on this product. It is not a finish identifier; it evidently identifies the kind of tree the wood came from. To be evenhanded about this, Chair Fair did call two days later to offer to reorder the dinette set, that it would be available in only four months this time, letting us know that we still have that option. We declined. We are out $2500, but life is short and weve wasted entirely too much of it on Chair Fair. We will count this as a ****** learned about giving non-refundable deposits to businesses we dont know anything about, and take our custom elsewhere. It might help if Chair Fair didnt apply the 104 identifier to each and every maple finish swatch they have for the product. Why bother with a number on the swatch at all? In what functional respect was the word maple insufficient? Why supply the numeric dead end to the customer in the first place?

Hello there. The customer did order a custom Amish set from us which we do take a 50% non refundable deposit on with all custom orders. We go over every order with each customer when the order is written up to make sure each customer is getting exactly what they want. 104 Sealy finish is a smooth finish. The customer is claiming they wanted 104 Sealy finish on Wormy maple which is not stated on their sales slip. We did deliver what was ordered on their slip. Having said that we never want an unhappy customer. We offered a discount on that set as it was the actual color they said they wanted just no the destressing they THOUGHT they ordered. That is the difference in the 2 Sealy finishes. They said no to that so we offered to order the set in the Wormy maple they said they wanted at no extra charge or penalties even though the set came in as ordered. I feel this is well above and beyond what would be expected of us in this situation, but again we are just trying to make our customers happy.
