We ship freight internationally from *************** through a forwarder in **********. On Feb 24th, K&A Express was hired to pick up our latest shipment. Driver ****** was dispatched from K&A in Wilmington. As soon as the driver arrived he began cursing and at the shipping party who were onsite *********************** and dock master. He sat in his cab for four hours and refused to move the truck to the dock. After four hours the driver ****** came out of the cab and asked **** and dock master to sign a form that said he attempted to pick up the load. When **** and the dock master refused ****** started screaming at them saying 'Sign the f****** papers!!' and other various forms of expletives. After ****** left without getting any signatures from **** and the dock master I called the sales manager at K&A Express ******************************. He communicated to me that the truck driver told him that when he got there there was too much snow leading to the dock. And *************** also said everyone working at the dock had left when he refused to load at the dock. This is a lie. ****, dock master, and other employees were there the whole time ****** refused to get out of the truck or dock. They were out since early morning clearing the road to the dock, salting, and sanding it down. Two other trucks had arrived and departed that same morning without any problems. Now K&A Express has billed the forwarder who in turn has billed us the shipper in excess of $2000 USD for the failed pickup. ******'s behavior cannot said to have been a good faith attempt for a load pickup. A dry run typically means missed pickup because shipper wasn't ready. This is not the case. If this K&A Express transport decides to bill shippers because the trucker refuses to do his job on a whim the shippers have to pay each and every time? The shipment no. for pickup is 300041311.In almost ten years of shipping and having loads picked up this is the first time we've had such an incident.
