5/23/23 signed a contract for basement renovation, to be completed 11/20/23. Started deconstruction work, but never started project due to permit delays according to contractor. Extended contract and added a change order 11/23/23 with work to be completed 5/31/24. Jan 2024 stairs worked on, but left exposed flooring to our basement. I asked them to fix it, they did not. February, was a stand still. March plumbers came to add sump pump system. April, work on basement flooring, lots of inconsistency in work and bad communication.During project no port-a-potty provided for workers. Workers never used our toilets. Once found a water bottle with yellow 'water' in it and often saw workers walk behind our garage. Workers often didn't speak English and ***' said they would have a project manager on site but never did. April we pointed out *** broke the contract by not having workers onsite for more than 10 consecutive days and wanted to severe ties. We asked for receipts on all expenses and wanted to end the contract. Receipts showed extra money from what we paid them and we asked for the difference in what we paid. They made an excuse for more time to bring in more receipts, which 'suddenly they had'. We had given them $141,323.00 for a basement that they did 10% of the work. To get out of contract we had to pay an additional $11,********* of today: Stairs have issues, bathroom electrical box has pulled out, an electrician confirmed they installed the incorrect electrical box and wiring for both the dryer and the stove/microwave they installed were wrong and is actually a fire hazard!! Now we are paying again out of pocket to fix their mistakes. This company does unsafe work, makes up their own receipts to fit the costs they want it to look like and does not complete a project. Please get this company reported! ****** ****** ********************

The automated options provided didn't fit either of my situation. The business did text me, but we did not come to a resolution. He offered to come onsite to fix the small bathroom electrical box, but at this point we have severed ties with the company and no longer want them on site ever. He was willing to fix the small job, but wouldn't accept responsibility for the more serious electrical issue and the danger it put my family in. The business continued to fail in seeing their negligence in installing an oven to a wattage that wasn't adequate for the product. His excuse was they were only hired to install the oven. I explained if that was the case, it was their responsibility to have informed the homeowners of the issue of the different wattage required for the oven and not install it until we had an electrician update the wiring, rather than just install it at the wrong voltage and creating a fire hazard. It should be noted that we hired them as a general contractor who was handling the entire basement renovation (which included plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc) and upper level jobs, and the expectation is they would handle any electrical issues with an installation of all electrical products. The basement dryer connection he excused the wrong voltage was put in b/c we ended the contract early and we interrupted the work in the basement and they only had placed a temporary electrical outlet for it, but the installation of the electrical plug was put in prior to our ending the contract. His reasoning made no sense. No matter if something is temporary or not, you don't put in the wrong voltage of anything electrical as it causes a potential fire hazard. It felt like his effort to communicate to me wasn't to address these concerns and apologize, but rather to list their excuses and take no responsibility for their mistakes. In the end it left me more frustrated and a reminder as to why we broke ties with the company. I do not want to be contacted by *** again, but want it noted that they did not accept the fact that they did not inform the client of electrical wattage differences when installing a product that was not correct for the current wiring in the location it was being installed and made it clear that if they do installations only they do not find it their obligation to do so. Red Flag!
