We bought our home in May of 2022. The previous owner had used Peterson for oil service for years so when we officially bought the home we decided to stay loyal with Peterson. Early this spring (April 2023) we scheduled to have our boiler cleaned. We are new homeowners so this task is a little foreign to us. We don't know what goes into a cleaning. I was required to pay the cleaning fee of $275 when scheduling the appointment. On the day of the cleaning the service tech showed up to our home later than anticipated. We were flexible with this (even with a newborn in the home). After approximately an hour, the service tech came upstairs and said that he needed to go to the office and pick up a part that he left there in order to finish the cleaning. He said he would be right back (the office in Worcester and we live in Holden). We didn't think anything of it. The service tech returned to our home approximately and hour and half later, and told us he also stopped and ate dinner. He proceeded to go back down to the basement and finish the cleaning. He was done at around 6:30pm.Weeks later we received a bill in the mail from Peterson Oil alleging that we owed clase to $300 for a replacement ignitor and labor associated with that. At no point during our routine boiler cleaning service did the service tech ever discuss having to replace the ignitor on our boiler nor did we ever agree or sign anything allowing him to perform this service. Our boiler is less than 5years old so I find it suspicious that this needed to be replaced. I called and spoke with someone at Peterson about this bill and explained that we did not approve this service and did not have the money to pay for this bill. I was told that the Vice President would call me back to discuss and I never heard anything. Instead, I continue to receive bills in the mail for service that we did not agree to or know was happening. We later found out that this kind of behavior is common with Peterson.
