    On January 29 Imperial Masonry and Roofing Company scammed me out of $10,000. They sent two employees to my house,************************* and ****************, to run the scam.The scam went like this:****** said they were doing some work for my neighbor and could see that my roof was damaged. As it turned out, the work they were doing was 6 houses down and there was no way they could have seen that my roof needed work. They claimed they could see the tiles flapping.At first, they said it was only the back of my house that needed a new roof as it was knackered. They said it would cost $20,000. Then they said the front of the house was also knackered and I needed a full new roof for $40,000, an exorbitant amount. I also asked ****** if they were accredited by the BBB and he said yes,another lie, They wanted a deposit, 4 checks for $5,000 each, two of them made out to ******, and two of them to *****. I should have realized that no reputable company would have asked that the deposit be written out to their employees, rather than the company. They immediately went to my bank to cash the checks, and returned telling me to go to my bank the next morning and get another $20,000 in cash for them.Overnight I realized I had been taken. When they returned the next morning, I told ****** I was cancelling the contract as is my right within 3 days in the state of **. He was angry and said he couldnt give me my money back because he had to pay contractors and ordered materials,huge lies. He tried to pressure me into keeping the contract in force but I refused.The law in CT says that if a contract is cancelled, the money put up front has to be refunded within 10 business days. My son called the company on my behalf and demanded the money. The party answered that the contract was void, the money would be refunded in 2-3 weeks. I tried calling several additional times but no one answered the phone. It is now June 20, 5 months after the incident,and I havent received a ***** back.
