      Construction of brick & cobblestone walkway and two complete sets of granite steps, as per contractual agreement, begun 7/15. Work ceased 7/18. 7/27: granite steps constructed; rise of top step into the house out of code (too high) as per Town Building Inspector, however - contractor refuses to correct it. As per contract - permit not pulled, contractor's building insurance does not name homeowner, not all materials on site (missing 1/3 of bricks and cobblestone to complete walkway and all of 1/2 of all granite steps to complete the job). Contractor not on site, no work accomplished since 7/27. Contractor sent an email with an ultimatum of I should accept the work as he wants to complete it or terminate the contract. However, as the contractor is out of compliance, he has already terminated the contract without completing the job and/or customer satisfaction in regards to safety and *************/ Code requirements and contractual agreement. He fired his office manager and construction crew without telling them - he told me, but not them. I understand that they have not received payment for their work/time on the job. Since hiring this contractor through *********, I have found numerous other complaints against this contractor that are similar to my own: walking off the job, incomplete work, firing/not paying employees, unsatisfactory quality of work. The Town Building Inspector says my step into / out of the house in not within ** Code and it is my (the home owner's) responsibility - but the contractor who built it will not comply and/or agree. The work in incomplete and the building materials to complete the job are not on site and not scheduled for delivery (or even ordered). I paid $15,500.oo of a $25,785.oo contract and have stress, a front yard-eyesore and another $1,000 paid to an attorney to tell me that this company has other issues that will result in a much larger legal-representation bill before anything is close to resolution!
