    Just prior to the COVID outbreak I purchased a gift card for $150 from the Spa on the Boulevard. Now that my husband and I feel comfortable using the spa services once again, we called to make an appointment and use the gift card only to find out that they would not accept the card saying that it had expired (just barely about 30 days). I asked if that given COVID, whether they would consider an extension--- the answer I received was a very inflexible NO. The manager would was completely unwilling to consider any resolution. I just can't believe that a business-- especially a local Harford County business -- would be so inconsiderate. They were perfectly willing to take my money for the card; but completely unwilling to provide the service that was paid for.

    Thank you for taking the time to notify Spa on The Boulevard of your frustrations and concerns.  We take all client feedback with sincere consideration in order to better serve our guests for the future. 


    I would like to reply to the matter of our store policy regarding gift certificate purchases.  All gift certificates expire four years from the date of purchase.  This policy is posted at our Front Desk, on our website, printed on the back of each certificate, printed at the bottom of the receipt and the purchaser is notified at the time of sale.  We are in complete accordance of Maryland State Law in regards to gift certificates.  I would like to state that the gift certificate in question is currently expired, that means it was purchased in February of 2019 or earlier.  The pandemic started in March of 2020, leaving time for the gift certificate to be redeemed prior to the pandemic.  We also decided to extend any gift certificate that expired during the time in which we were forcefully closed for the seven weeks.  Our business has been operating without restrictions for over two years.


    This is not a matter of our business being insensitive.  We are simply abiding by our company policies that we are more than transparent about.  If the customer was not comfortable receiving spa services, the gift certificate could have been used for hair or nail services or product purchases.  Unfortunately, the gift certificate has expired.  Again, I would like to thank the customer for reaching out to the Better Business Bureau for their concerns so that we may respond to their complaint.
