Date of Incident: 10/26/2024 I requested a quote to repair a sterling silver elephant trinket bracelet from the vendor approximately three weeks prior to 10/26/2024. The manager stated it would take around two weeks for me to receive a quote. We discussed what repair I was requesting, which was to solder a broken loop where the elephant tail connected to a ring which connected to the clasp of the bracelet. She acknowledged seeing where the loop was broken and that it needed to be soldered. She said she would call with a quote before proceeding. On 10/21, she text me that the cost to repair was $95. I responded that was too much. She then responded that she misread her jeweler's handwriting and that it would be $75, to which I responded that the price was acceptable and to proceed with the repair. When I went to pick up my bracelet on 10/26, she showed me the repair and it was not what was authorized. Instead of soldering the tail of the elephant, an entire section (two silver elephants) was removed and replaced it with a cheap stainless steel extension clasp. No soldering was even done and my trinkets that were removed were not returned to me. Additionally, she tried to add $10 to the final cost for a 'tip' for the jeweler but she quickly retracted the request, stating she wanted to 'keep' my business in the future. I was so shocked they did this that I did not know what to respond at the time. I also did not want a confrontation in the store so I paid the bill and left, very upset. I do not know if I have any recourse, but while I was leaving, I heard the other sales person doing the same thing to the other customer, trying to upcharge them after the repair. I don't know the outcome of that conversation as I left. I feel not only did I not get what I authorized, my two silver elephant trinkets that were removed were not returned to me. I am reporting this as I do not want anyone else to fall victim to these shoddy business practices.
