After the contractor received after final payment, an agreement was made to come back and repair minor issues that the contractor missed and messed up. The owner of the company repeatedly agreed to fix defects. He texted to communicate they will come on a specific date/time but then does not show up to complete repairs and does not follow up to reschedule and has not corrected defects. we have reached out several times to get the issue resolved, but several months still waiting.

The job was completed and paid for in 2022. The customer is having problems with the customer supplied faucets. We do not and did not supply the faucet. I came on site and determined a third-party plumber needs to be the one to possibly make a repair or recommend a replacement. The customer has contacted a work cell phone attempting to make contact but has never called the company office nor sent an email. We do need to have a third-party plumber on site to make a recommendation to repair or replace. I have sent an email to the customer asking for dates , so I can accommodate a third-party plumber.

I am rejecting this response because:

The contractor is only addressing half the issue.  The issue that he addressed dealing with a third party plumber came up after we asked for advice and he offered to help while correcting the main issue.  Furthermore, this issue has been handled. The main issue is we paid the balance of the job with the understanding he or this workers could come back and finish the job completely.  He promised he or his workers would to come back several times.  They were supposed to repair and paint the mistake they made when hanging the master bathroom mirror wrong, which was part of the work contracted to perform. (see attached pictures)
In addition, we did not call the company office or send an email  because my husband and the contractor (we believe to be the owner of the company) were communicating directly on his personal cell phone through calls and text messages.  NEVER did he say contact company office, sent an email or stop contacting me on my personal cell phone.  In fact the last communication he stated in text message that we would come next Tuesday or Wednesday and never showed!!

    Sincerely,

The project was paid for and has been completed. If there is any part of the project that has not been completed and needs to be touched up, we are more than willing to do that work. All of the work is guaranteed. Im not sure what part of the project still needs to be painted, that has not been discussed with me. I have asked for an email so that it is not lost and it is trackable. I have sent an email to the customer asking for dates that we can come back and have the plumber third-party address the issue.  Call the company phone number. I cannot schedule work through the BBB website.
    ************ or *****************************************

If there is any part of the project that the customer feels is unfinished, we would like to help, but I am unaware of any part of the project that is unfinished. I thought this was complaint was based on faucets that the customer supplied.

we asked that customers refrain from using cell phone text messages for important items so they do not get lost and to avoid this type of situation. We have several jobs going on at one time and several cell phones through the company and not all of those messages can be recorded and tracked without a phone call or email. We have that system in place to ensure quality assurance.

I would like to discuss specifically what needs to be done so we can make sure that is completed

    Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/10/04) */
The customer had a front porch made of freshly milled lumber. All of the wood was installed and inspected by county inspector with additional brackets put in place to secure the fresh milled lumber. Two of the boards warped and we agreed to replace them immediately at no cost. When I stop by to inspect the wood The homeowner did not answer the door and I did not have the proper ladder. When I contacted the customer to let them know I would be by to see it I gave them several time frames that I would be available. I missed one of the times I said I would be there and the customer has now filed a complaint. None of the work that was performed was negligent. There was never a date and time for the repair to be made we had to inspect the issue first. The inspection happened this morning on October 5 as promised to the customer however a complaint was still issued. The repair will be made once new lumber has been milled.

    Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/10/06) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First, going forward anyone needing to contact us who is representing 50 East Remodeling should contact my husband ************ via text message ONLY at **************. The reason this complaint was filed is that 50 East needs frequent reminders and follow up communications in order to receive the status of progress on the project. I contacted 50 East several times before Monday, October 3. 50 East representatives frequently say they are going to stop by but have been told repeatedly that if they cannot meet during specific timeframes, my husband and I cannot step away from work related calls or meetings at a moment's notice. Hence the request for text messages to coordinate visits to our property and prompt, reliable appointments with 50 East. 50 East stated that they would be by at "lunchtime" on Monday, October 3 to review the warped wood. They did not show up and did not communicate when they would reschedule. Hence, as I have often had to do in the past, I contacted them proactively to see when they would reschedule. Although they responded to my request for a date / time when they would be back to assess the remediation of the warped wood, this is not the first time we have had to contact them to arrange visits that 50 East did not show up for and did not communicate why or when it would be rescheduled. Again, they respond, but only when we proactively communicate with them to seek clarification about dates, times and work to be completed during visits.

    Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2022/10/07) */
On Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at approximately 8 AM I contacted the customer via text message stating that I would be by in the rain with the ladder to inspect the wood piece that warped. She responded with thank you and proceeded to file a complaint. None of the work was ever done negligent. I did miss one of the estimated time frame that I stated I would be there. Monday, October 3, 2022 was a torrential downpour and the office was closed. I am trying to help and get this remedied even though the work is structurally sound. I agreed to replace the warped board so it is cosmetically correct at no cost to the customer However he proceeded to file a complaint anyway. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to respond to this. The complaint is being issued after the repairs being agreed to.
