Me and Ronald S******/Reli-On Remodeling entered into a contract on 9/3/2022 (see contract attachment).
Ron maintains ownership of the ink signed version of the contract.
The first of three payments was given to Ron on 9/3/2022 for the amount of $4045.00 (see attachments of receipt & check deposit). Ron never disclosed he did not know how to do the project and proceeded to perform it in an unworkmanlike manner, described below.
Ron began work on 9/6/2022 and on 9/14/2022, after my concern about the workmanship, and additional property damage Ron and his associate caused, I refused to let him continue working on the project.
On 9/15/2022 I requested Ron to pay me the amount of the initial payment ($4045.00) I had already made in addition to extra costs to cover the additional damages he caused to the property, and disposal of the old baseboards that he left on my driveway for a total of $6,495.00. He refused to refund me any amount of money, stating he already spent all of the money on supplies and labor costs. He said, "well, you will just have to take me to court".

Unworkmanlike manner issues include, but are not limited to the following:
    * Baseboards on the staircase were not removed prior to sanding and staining
    * Floors were insufficiently sanded and did not adequately remove the polyurethane
    * Some areas of the floor were not even attempted to be sanded, such as the back boards on the staircase
    * Stain was unskillfully applied onto inadequately sanded floors as well as non-sanded areas of the floor
o Stain was applied with a squeegee on the bedroom and hallway floors and with a paintbrush and sponge on the staircase
o Excess stain was not wiped/soaked up as the stain was applied which led to heavy coating and pooling of the stain. Shoe prints and streak marks were visible throughout
o Areas such as closets, back boards of stairs and other miscellaneous areas were not stained
    * On the morning of 9/15, during discussion of many of the concerns I had regard

    Business Response

    Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/09/28) */
Customer did not allow me the time to complete thev work that I was hired for she did not feel I was capable she felt the need to critique and complain on a daily basis instead of allowing me to complete the work
In my opinion things were progressing as I planned and work was going well only having been on the project a few days

    Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/09/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Ron was provided ample time to complete this phase of the project. He worked on the floor refinishing phase of the project for 7 days, in an unworkmanlike manner. Competent contractors typically complete in 1 day, the amount of work Ron attempted to complete in 7 days. Evidenced by his results and through discussion with him about how he was conducting the project, it was clear that he did not know how to refinish floors. Prior to contract signing and payment, Ron never disclosed that he did not know how to conduct the project.
Ron worked on the project from 9/6/2022 - 9/14/2022. During this period he completed removal of second level baseboards, excluding the stair case, which took approximately 2 days. Then he insufficiently sanded the second level floors and staircase over a period of about 4 days. Staining occurred on days 6 and 7. Typically, baseboard removal, sanding, staining and application of the first coat of polyurethane are completed in 1 day, by competent contractors.
My first complaint occurred on 9/14/2022 evidenced by the text message I sent him at 08:25am. The complaint was in reference to the sloppy workmanship I observed when I saw the results of his first attempt to stain the floors. My second complaint, evidenced by a text message I sent to him the same day at 5:40pm after he unsuccessfully attempted to remedy the previous unworkmanlike performance.

    Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2022/10/04) */
It is not my intention to go back and forth with this either
************** is mistaken on the days spent working on the floors
I don't feel that I was given ample time to complete the process I had planned on completing the frist stage of the contract I work in the property for 5 days which includes removal of second floor baseboard and prepping the floors (3)bedrooms ,hallway ,and stairs
Again I don't feel I was allowed ample time to complete this project

    Consumer Response /* (4200, 13, 2022/10/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Ron is attempting to use a non-existent time limitation as an excuse for not knowing how to complete a job in a workmanlike manner. He worked for 7 days. During that time he unsuccessfully attempted to perform a phase of a project that takes competent contractors 1 day to complete.
If you do not know how to complete a project, disclose that prior to signing a contract, taking a client's money and causing additional damage to a client's property.
