My car was crashed in May 2024 and a few weeks later Maryland Auto Insurance contacted me to start the process of repairing the car, the appraiser even came to see my car and the last thing I heard was that they were waiting to speak to the owner of the car that caused the accident since he never answered the phone or was not at home. I have called about 6 times to follow up on the case but I have not received an answer and the last few times they do not even answer the phone. I believe that this company does not want to pay for the damages caused by its insured and they avoid doing their job. This is robbery!

This is the worse!! My car was totaled in Oct and I am just now getting some result in Dec 31. My documents were lost. I resent the documents. Now I am trying to get gap claim going and I am sent the wrong car documents. There is no type of procedure during the holiday. My claim was switched to almost 3 different people. Someone please help. Time is money I am still paying for a car that I don't have but they are making it longer by losing my documents, and the holiday in between and sending improper documents. I am unable to speak to a supervisor, no one calls you and you are unable to go to speak to someone. What else can I do the customer service is horrible.

I would rate this company a 0 if I could. To say I am appalled with this company's customer service is an understatement. They seem to want to only communicate via email and not actually pick up the phone to speak with someone what was in an accident with one of their insureds. On June 5th I had an accident with one of their insureds and approximately 3 weeks later I was still being told they they were waiting waiting to speak to the insured. I continued to reach out and left messages for the claims representative. I finally was able to speak with her on July 1st where she again stated she has yet to get in touch with their insured. She actually described their insured as "evading" them and she would do 1 of 2 things: 1. reach out again for contact and 2. send out an investigator to their address. She stated it could take a few weeks for an update. On July 5th I received a piece of mail dated July 1st where they could not determine who was actually at fault and concluded their insured was not responsible. I moved on to leaving more messages with this claims representative manager and even received confirmation from a customer care representative that they sent an internal message to said manager. After retrieving her email address, I sent a follow up to my phone calls. Oddly she replied within 2hrs. I replied and told her the information she received from her insured was incorrect and asked again for us to speak as I had many follow up questions. I further attached the damage from my car, done by their insured, and additional facts that I do not think were taken into account. It is August 4th and I have yet to speak with a manager.
My take away is this. If you are a person who has morale's and values, and gets in an accident (that is not your fault) with their insured be prepared to be stonewalled. Their lack of customer service is laughable. its even more disappointing that a manager won't even set up a time to speak with me.

This is a predatory company. The prey on the vulnerable. I got insurance from maif July 2023. I had to get them due to my high insurance rates. When I got them then told me that i will pay 9 months and I have 2 months free. My next payment will be due July of 2024. I paid my 1200 deposit and I had a monthly rate of 626.00. The agent told me as long as I don't have any accidents when my policy is up for renewal that my payments would lower. Fast forward to July 2024. I was told that I would have to pay another down-payment of 1400 by July 22 to renew my policy. I have had insurance for over 20 years and I have never had to pay continuous down-payments to keep my policy. Once my policy was active all I had to do was continue to pay the monthly payments. Theboy reason I would have to pay another down-payment was if my policy was canceled and/or lapsed....... in which none of this was the case with Maif. I want to know if this is even legal? .... if it is then this company needs to change the way they do business and be more up front about how their services work. Baiting customers in telling me that they have 2 months free when technically it is not free should has some sort of repercussions for the agents and/or the company as a whole. I would have known that I would have to pay yearly down-payments; I would have searched for other options.

I was rear ended with my pregnant wife in the car. Damage was caused to my truck, and my wife had to get a sonogram done due to the impact. My vehicle has been in the shop for three weeks, with the mechanic unable to proceed with any repairs because MAIF was so unreachable. I was then all the sudden called and told that their adjuster (which isn’t the adjuster that met with me and took pictures, but instead an “outside vendor) stated that the total in damages exceeds MAIF’s max payout. I could never get the adjuster to respond to my calls nor the mechanic’s calls. After three weeks of back and forth, I had to eventually get my insurance involved. They had to take over everything. I called the MAIF insurance agent and informed him that my insurance is taking over, but that I do not have rental insurance on the policy, and that at the very least, I ask that they provide me with a rental for a couple more weeks. I was told that the follow day is the last day they can provide me with a rental - knowing that I have no vehicle during this time. This is after they got out of having to provide me with any reimbursement for their responsible party’s rear ending of me. They never responded to the hospital for my wife’s visit, and their agent and adjuster never spoke with my mechanic to go over damages or actual repair cost.
The level of customer service and assistance I received through them was beyond horrible.

I am filing a complaint because this agency has illegally provided someone with insurance using my address. I do not know how this can be possible when the person never lived at my address. I believe the insurance agent did not do his job to verify the address was recorded with MVA or requested any verification or proof of where the person resided. I called the insurance company to inform them that the person did not reside at my address. They told me I had to return the mail. I did that . Yet it has been several months and today I am still getting mail . This is very dangerous and scary. Because if the person who illegal got insurance gets into an accident or does something illegal the police will becoming to my home. I would like a phone call and an apology and the problem solved.

My car was vandalized and the agent told ** I had rental car coverage. Two months later they call me and told me I have to pay full rate for the rental car because I didn't have the coverage. I've already paid the discounted amount to enterprise and get this bill of surprise. This company scammed me. They don't know how to read policies and get away with saying anything to the customers.

Our Claims management team has been in contact with this policyholder to explain the rental coverage details. In this case, rental coverage was added after the fact and is not available to be used in relation to the incident. We continue to be available to assist the policyholder in understanding coverage.
