I used them for vasectomy and was told I would know all the cost upfront. They said they contacted my insurance company and that my procedure would be free of charge. According to my insurance company they paid for the vasectomy but the doctor office sent me a bill for about $700. I contacted them to let them know I was told my procedure would be covered by insurance and they admitted that was correct and they would look into it. Then months later they added a charge of about $300 for "sperm dux removal" which I never had removed. Now I just received a letter that they sent my bill to collections.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I was charged $300 for “sprem dux removal” but I never had that procedure preformed. I was also told multiple times that all cost would be known up from and that mine would be no cost. Their response to the BBB be was the same to me. No reason or explanation why I’m getting the bill just that I have to pay.

    Sincerely,

I was referred to Chesapeake Urology from a hospital ED after a diagnosis of kidney stones. My insurance is Care first Administrators through the University of Maryland. Within that insurance I could use UMMS providers or Blue Cross Blue Shield providers. The UMMS providers are no deductible and covered 90%, the BCBS providers are $1000 deductible and covered 80%. I made sure Dr. Arronson was UMMS choice. I went to him for follow up, he suggested lithotripsy procedure, i agreed and we scheduled it. The procedure was scheduled in the same building as Chesapeake Urology, *** ******** Road *** **** I thought Dr. Arronson would be doing the procedure, instead the procedure office is Summit Ambulatory Surgical Center, which is not an UMMS choice provider, they are a BCBS provider. Now I have a substantial bill to deal with. As a patient, I went to an UMMS choice doctor, followed all his suggestions. I understand doctors do not bother themselves with these pesky insurance issues but someone at Chesapeake Urology should have made sure the doctors' orders were in line with the insurance. Care first Administrators said there is nothing they can do. Chesapeake Urology billing rep. Yolanda said there is nothing she can do. It just doesn't seem right that i went to the correct doctor and followed his plan and got screwed.
