  The background for this complaint is based on the fact that RYT Plumbing replaced my mother's and father's (now deceased), hot water heater at their rental property for $1,540.00. The terms of the contract included a one year parts and labor warranty. The last payment was made on April 5, 2022,
  My husband and I went down to the unit and stayed from June 19 to June 23, 2023, to get the unit ready for rental. It was observed that the pan under the hot water heater had water in it. The unit does not get much use because the unit is rented out only during the summer season. When the unit was installed, the technician said that there should not be water in the pan. Therefore, a call was made to RYT Plumbing because they were the ones who installed the hot water heater. It was my erroneous assumption that since the call was made so close to the end of the one year warranty, that there would be not a charge
  Following this, I received a bill from RYT Plumbing for $185.00. The bill states, “Found water in drain pan; was coming from condensation running back into pan from drain stack. Raised pipe slightly to add grade to pipe. Issue could also be a clog in the drain stack. Fuel Surcharge.” We know for a fact that the condominium board went through the entire building and snaked out all the condensation pipes. Thus, this cannot be the cause of the water. Also, why did RYT have to raise the drain pipe now and not when it was installed?
  My mother is 93 years old, and is on Medicare. She is on a limited income so I asked Yvonne, who is in billing at RYT, if she could adjust the invoice. Her response is that the problem was not with the Hot Water Heater they installed, and why should her people not get paid for the work that they did. I told her that I would be writing a letter, and she said to go ahead. Her attitude was despicable.
