I sold two items with Alexander Auction over a year ago in April 2024. I am still waiting for my payment from them. I have emailed many times and have had no satisfactory response.

On 25 April, 2024, I participated in an online auction by Alexander Historical Auctions of ***************, **, hosted on the Liveauctioneers platform. I bid on & won lot 561 titled World War II U.S.A.A.F. photographs (20). The lot consisted of 24 total items. The package I received from the auction house on 6 May, 2024, included only 10 black & white photos. From 6-28 May, 2024, I made good faith efforts to resolve the matter of the missing 14 items. Early in this process, an auction house rep ****** *.) responded ********** of photos was separated by mistake, I will locate the rest of your photos and ship them to you." She never did, and I expressed to ***** my preference to keep the items I received and be reimbursed a fair amount for the ********************************** misplaced. I was then advised by ***** that ****, the auctioneer, would only compensate me if I returned the 10 photos. I had previously expressed disappointment to ***** that their somewhat careless packaging had apparently creased the corners of the 10 photos they packaged & shipped. I also noted that this was especially disturbing because the photos are historically important, original war-era photos of the actual **************** depicted in the hit ******** series Masters of the Air (known as ****** Hundredth). These key facts were not mentioned in the lot description. It's difficult not to conclude that Bill's requirement to return the ****** Hundredth photos was because he had failed to recognize their significance before the sale. **** effectively put me over a barrel whereby he would only address the missing 14 items if I returned the ****** Hundredth photos, which is unreasonable & appeared intended to dissuade me from seeking a refund. When I proposed a partial refund as a fair & commonly accepted remedy, the auction house stopped communicating with me. Given that I received only 10 of 24 items, I am seeking a 50% refund of my purchase price plus buyers premium ($285).

****** has just been refunded in the amount of $285.00 on the credit card he initially made payment with.

This afternoon I received an email from ***** ****** at Alexander Historical notifying me that they had refunded my credit card $285. They provide a receipt confirming the refund. I am satisfied with their response and consider the matter closed. I greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving my complaint. Thank you so very much for the services you provide, it truly makes a difference. ****** R. ******* **************

I purchased an item at auction for an item signed 18 **** doctors on trial in ********* on 1-27-23. Several months earlier, I purchased 2 other items from the auction house where the bids did not match what was online: The final bid on a *************************** autograph was $650 but I received an invoice for $900, my maximum bid; on a ******************* item, I bid $15K, but the "winning bid" was $16,000. I called the auction house and they told me that there were other bids I couldn't observe that resulted in a $900 hammer price. I mentioned that I had bid but lost the Mao item and 3 weeks later they called to say the "winning bidder" did not pay, so I purchased the item as well for $15K. On their website, they previously stated it had been sold for $300K. There were concerns regarding the authenticity, which I resolved myself. For the ********* doctors item, I bid $3500 but the "winning bid" was listed as $3750. Two days later, I received an invoice for $3500 + auction fees. I called the auction house where "*****" told me she'd check with the boss, then she came back and told me she confirmed that I won. I paid the invoice but did not receive the item. 1 week later on 2-8-23, I received an email stating I in fact did not win it- someone else did (though I paid). I called the auction house, was told they'd call me back but never did. I checked contractual law and indeed the item became mine when I paid for it. I sent an e-mail to the ********** ********************* who told me he had the right to withdraw the item at any time (though I owned it when I paid for it). He also told me that the reason the ******* item was $900 is because that was the reserve price (a different reason then I had been told). He refused to speak to me but wrote "You are free, of course, to pursue any legal course you choose, but be forewarned that such actions will carry unpleasant ramifications in the auction world. I do not take threats lightly."

Business sold my consigned items at auction on November 6, 2022. Contract they signed and I signed stated 45 business days for payment of items sold. It is now January 29, 2023 and there has been no payment despite numerous emails and phone calls to the business which go unanswered.
