I hired Adoption Makes Family to do a home study for me.From the very beginning there was issues with this agency. My ability to pay was questioned although my household income in total is not poverty level and is middle class.I explained how I intended to pay for adoption.I was granted access to their online portal to complete my documents however it did not have the necessary information, I had to call them multiple times to get a list for a sanitarian and call/email informing them that according to the fire inspector, the agency had to request for me to get an inspection. Information the fire inspector said all agencies know. Two of my reference letters were rejected, nitpicked, and required to be redone. I had to read the list and go do it with no knowledge of the adoption process as this was my first time. The agency was always accessible by phone but our phone calls were very brief and I felt like I was bother a bother. Some very negative things were said to me stating as a single person you face a longer wait time. You could adopt within 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, or never. It was very discouraging.I got all the funds together and my documents in 8 weeks but issues continued. The first call requested my placing agency information which I provided. The next day they called and the very first issue came back up about finances. I have good finances, but they wanted me to break down how I intend to fund adoption step by step, get a breakdown of fees from my agency, and step by step explain how I intend to raise a child on my income. They stated its for the state when they are audited,I had a feeling that I wasn’t going to be approved no matter what I did because everything I did was an issue.I asked how many people fail with them and they couldn’t give me a number. I decided to not move forward, get my documents, my check back and take my business elsewhere.I passed every test, did not fail one yet kept being nitpicked.I had a very bad experience and wasted money and time.
